Does anyone have a suggestion as to where one could buy some non-leather shoes?
Daniel O. replied:
Check out the Vegan Society's trademarked footwear and clothing companies - peace of mind that not only are they non-leather but the glues, laces, waterproofing, stitching, and soles are also vegan. http://www.vegansociety.com/trademarksearch.aspx?searchterm=+&cat=FOOTWEAR+%26+CLOTHING

these guys do some nice shoes - http://www.novacas.com/mens.htm - check out where the shockist are on the site. I want to get the Eric style shoes - but can not find it in any of the shockist at the mo. These are good fashionable men's shoes - cost a bit tho. What styles are you after? In regards to shops that sell them - there is one in Richmond http://www.bboheme.com/index.php Also, a shop in Kings Cross that have a range of shoes - nice food too! www.secretsocietyofvegans.co.uk I only know shops in London.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, but does anybody know anywhere I can get my sons feet measured and buy decent school shoes without venturing into the town centre?

Everyone used to recommended Blunts. They've closed down in Bearwood, but if you google them, they are on neighbouring suburbs. Possibly KH.

CooShoo in York Rd in Kings Heath is a fab independent shoe shop. Really take care to make sure the fit is right & they have a good selection of shoes. Gorgeous non-school shoes too. Plus if you don't find what you want there, Clarkes is just round the corner! https://www.cooshoo.co.uk/

Converse won't fit his foot without the splints. Clarks and startrite won't give a measurement as the width is off the scale. Orthotics have told me I need to buy this http://www.gilbert-mellish.co.uk/Shop/Products/piedro-afo-boot-black-leather-lace/945.aspx, so I have argued what is the point of prescribing my child something that means we have to spend nearly £200 on footwear!

Charlie L. replied:
Possibly .... Give Zahoot a call on 0845 180 1245 and ask for Ross. Tell him Charlie gave you his details, he is an artist/graphic designer. Zahoot are a design, brand and print company but Ross has an interest in fabric design also. It's worth a try. Hope that helps.
