If you don't like the sound of the one you've called, try Vince Campitti. He is crazy badass in the courtroom and his paralegal is the best in the state.
Need help with some landlord issues. I have had water leaking from my bathroom ceiling for a month at my apartment. Contacted management, maintenance came and cut a hole...

Sounds like negligence Re: plumbing. Hope this helps: http://www.in.gov/isdh/files/Tenants_Rights_doc.pdf. Christina is absolutely spot on about documenting all relevant FACTS. Include dates and times, "on or about such and such a date, maintenance man (use names when possible) drilled hole in ceiling; two days later..." Like Sarah said, call 311 to see what recourse you have and inform them of situation that makes it a less than desirable place to live. Finally, and since you're asking, if your lease is ending soon, for your and your children's happiness and safety, ask yourself if living there is more burden than benefit. Our homes are places where we need to feel joy and safety. The place where you are doesn't sound like that sort of place...and it may take the city and professional advocates time to turn they place around. Good luck and God bless.

The important thing here is: document, document, document. Pictures, notes, written appointments and promises, et al. If Code gets involved, if you need at retain an attorney, if you decide to vacate and management tries to pursue you for rent, you will have evidence to support you. I agree: Call 311. Also, contact your Councilman (Oliver Davis) to add his voice on the "inside". If necessary, consult an attorney. Sometimes a terse letter from an attorney will scare management straight. I recommend John Broden.
