I love my Canon Vixia HF-S10 (though it's 5 years old, not sure if there's a current equivalent, so not particularly helpful!) Were I in the market I'd check out reviews at bhphotovideo.com. Oh, if you use an ext mic (I don't), my model requires an adapter cause it has a mini shoe…something to consider.

Yan Seiner by the way, I've got and older "pro" video unit (pre-HD) that's yours if you want it. When your kids leave home, they leave "junk" behind..... A new battery and it's good to go (my oldest son was in the business, but for him it's obsolete now).

I remembered this earlier discussion about cameras and just ran across this camera comparison which may be of interest. I have, and like, the Sony RX-100 - I (first generation). An upgrade to the current third generation would be nice for the few new features like wifi and viewer, but not necessary. I had to get UK passport photos done with different requirements and Walgreens on Shelburne Rd did them no problem. I’m guessing they can probably do Canada too.
