Veterinarian recommendations? (dog) Hey y'all. I am 'vetting' Vets! Where I am from, I am pretty sure my vet loved my dog more than I did. Is there anyone around here...

Mallets Bay Veterinary Hospital in Colchester is top notch. They have about three different vets who all work in the practice and I've had great experiences with all of them. Their vet techs and front desk staff are also super friendly and professional. They absolutely adore my dog and always talk through different options and explain things really well. I've never felt like they were trying to rip me off. The clinic is clean and modern. I can't recommend them enough!

Did a bit of research when I brought my puppy home and ended up selecting Ark Veterinary Hospital in Shelburne. I lived in South End at the time, so was a pretty easy drive. I moved across town and still make the trek down rather than changing. (River Cove is less than a mile away...) Drs. Koenitzer and Smetts are fantastic and all of the vet techs are so sweet and helpful. Highly recommend.

I have brought my pets to a few local vets over the years. They have ranged from Ok to bad in my experience. For our newest dog, we decided to try a new vet by recommendation and have been bringing him to Petit Brook in Colchester and they have been amazing. Their pricing is very reasonable, their entire staff is very friendly, helpful and it is the first time i have felt like a vet has truly cared for our pet. They aren't in Burlington proper but well worth the short drive if possible. They are just off exit 17. If needed, I would drive hours to bring our dog to them rather than go anywhere else.

Kerry Lindemuth at Dr. Kerry's Pet House Calls. She's been our vet for 20+ years, was with GMAH for a long time, on her own doing pet house calls. She has come to our home specifically to put down 1 dog and 1 cat in the past 18 months here, at home, where the pets were at ease. She's taken care of 2 of our dogs, and at least 4 cats, and per your qualification criteria, she is a winner. Were she to give up her practice I don't think we'd ever get a new pet. She is incredible! First result for Dr. Kerry's pet vet@duckduckgo.com

I’m a huge fan of the Hinesburg animal hospital - a bit of a drive for sure from Burlington but they’ve been incredibly compassionate and provided the best care my family could have asked for for many of our dogs. It’s also what VTDogRescue uses for all of their pups/fosters.

Old North End Vet Clinic. They're great and reasonably priced. I've been taking my dog and cat there for years.

Champlain Vet in Saint Albans, me, along with my family have been going there for the last 20 years. They are the nicest people who will get to know you and your animal on a personal level. I'll always recommend them.

Scott Green is the best in my opinion.
Megan M. replied:
Dr. Green. He's been doing mine since I got her 9 years ago, standard dental stuff as well as wolf teeth removal. Very good at doing only what's needed to fix/prevent an issue and not do a bunch of stuff just to charge you.

If anyone else would like to make a donation Plymouth Vet will take payments over the phone no problem!
Any recommendations for an affordable (and good of course) RW neighborhood-ish vet?? Really sick of $50 fee for just walking in the door of a vet.

St. Paul vet they are near the domes. Very reasonable and no appointment needed.
Clovernook C. replied:
Melissa, I second lysine. You can get the human pills from Walgreens and look up dosage for your cat. Crush it and mix into wet food. The Cat Doctor has prescribed this each time my cats have had an upper respiratory infection, it is highly effective.
Jillian M. replied:
I disagree with Shannon, St. Paul is very good. I take all our furry loved ones there and they are very good. Dr Wendy is our favorite but they are all good
Melissa T. replied:
Dr Wendy left.:*( I really think it depends on who you get. I call ahead and ask if the vets I like are working. Small Animal off north killed my friend's cat with a faulty heating pad during a routine teeth cleaning and then refused to admit it. Cost her a ton of $ and a trip to ER before they realized why the cat was in such pain and then it was too late.:(
Barbara A. replied:
I have recommended my dear vet many times. He worked at St. Paul right out of UW. Now has his own place, Wright's Brown Deer Animal Hospital. He is affordable, very compassionate to both owner, owner's financial situation and your pet. He also was awarded top surgeon award for his class. His people and animals and workers all love him. Check him out on fb, Ramard Wright. When my pet needed regular dental work and anaesthesia every 3 weeks, Small Animal charged $115, he charged $20, then dropped it to fifteen. A year of Small Animal would have really hurt.
