Earls Hall are amazing and have a hospital in their Southend practice. Best vets I've found and I've had 5 dogs, 3 cats and 3 hamsters! I wouldn't go anywhere else. Twice I thought I'd have to have two of my dogs put down but they didn't give up on them and they lead long lives.

My boy Dachshund had a disc explode in his spine January last year. He was paralysed from the waist down. Rushed him to Earls Hall (out of hours) who were great but couldn't help him as he needed specialist spinal care. They sent us to Royal Veterinary Hospital in Potters Bar who were absolutely amazing. Couldn't fault them. We had daily updates. 15 months later my boy is fine. Still has a wonky walk/run but he's great. He's 7 today:-) x

Millennium vets in Braintree had a specialist there a couple of years ago. We were referred by our vet and went up there expecting a big bill but they were very fair considering it was an elderly rescue and therefore not insured. It only cost half the amount we were expecting.

We had same problem with our lab. Vets sent us to Potters Bar vet hospital they did MRI scan which showed disc had popped out and then gone back in. Cost over a thousand but our insurance paid in full. At least we knew what had happened and when she bunny hops a bit we do a week of lead walks and then she is fine each time. Saved us having a wasted op which was the other alternative. Good luck with your poorly dog
Caroline C. replied:
Earls Hall vets/hospital in Westcliff - they've performed some major surgery on my dog and saved him - plus they refer to the big vet training place for MRI half way round the M25. They're not a bargain shop but if my dogs need serious diagnosis or op, I go there.
Emma C. replied:
Yes you have to go to your usual vet who will refer you to a specialist. I know Millennium vets Braintree do some specialist surgery as well as day to day stuff maybe look up there Web page x
Less than a week until we get our kittens !!! Can anyone recommend a good vet ? I used to go to Earls Hall until every pet I took there died within a week after !!!!

It's not really about the Dengie but just in case anyone's interested, I had been using the Burnham vets but Best Friends vet in Woodham seem to be better and hugely...
