My family just moved here. My neighbor had recommended Four Paws Vet. They have a long wait list. I have an 11 year old Great Pyrenees who needs a vet quickly. Can...

I used to go to Southport Animal Hospital and would never return to Bill Rabon. For a vet to table a puppy mill bill "because he will create a better one," then having nothing included in the agenda? We have a vet who is sworn to protect animals in our state senate-and is not doing so. I go to Four Paws, and for emergencies, Dr. Travis at River Road is great.
Missy R. replied:
We Love Dr King on Oak ISland! (910) 278-7575
Jillian F. replied:
River Road Animal Hospital may be a little pricey but Dr. Travis is the best. She saved my dogs life and will work you in quickly!!!
Punkin S. replied:
Dr. King on Oak Island. Great vet and less expensive.
Anne C. replied:
Even though I am not please with Dr Bill's support for puppy mills in our state, Dr Tony@Southport is my veterinarian and we just love him. He doesn't play games and tells you like it is.
Anne C. replied:
Mary Ann what happened at Brunswick? I was there the other day and Dr Anderson was just wonderful with an extremely sick rescue cat.
Donna B. replied:
(Didn't read the other comments, but would recommend A Country Vet....though it would not be convenient AT ALL for you!)
Christy C. replied:
Southport Animal Hospital is fabulous! All of the vets are great. They are easy to deal with and a happy group. And as far as the comment about Dr.Bill's "support for puppy mills" the writer probably did not see the embarrassing excuse for a bill which was tabled at Dr. Bill's request until a better one was written to include a fiscal bill to support the enforcement against puppy mills and catteries.

Brunswick Animal Hospital on Route 17 in Supply...just passed Hardees and Mcd's. I used Four Paws and was very unhappy with a very overlooked diagnosis.
Monica K. replied:
Dr. Moore at capeside.
Edie C. replied:
Southport Animal Hospital is great ! Any of the doctors there are very good.
Holley R. replied:
Dr Stoltz saved my cat for sure. I was literally shaking him to stay alive while I was driving there...diagnosed the problem and 2 years later,he is healthy
Mary W. replied:
Are these Dr Rabon's related...cause the female one at Brunswick Animal Hospital only perscribes stuff and could care less that none of them were working.......all they want to do is run up a bill.
Lorelei R. replied:
Dr King on Oak Island
Morgan H. replied:
Try Dr. Travis at River Road.
Rae K. replied:
No Caroline. We use Capeside for our pets. In fact, Dr Hanby comes to my house and does all 5 of my cats. It is worth the extra money to get them all done at once without the stress of transporting them to the Vet's office.
Anne C. replied:
Christy Jobe Carter you really believe that it was a bad bill? Dr Bill Rabon took an oath to protect and even if it was a weak bill, a weak bill is better then the cruelty these poor dogs live day in and day out. I'm also guessing you have never interacted with a puppy mill dog? It is heartbreaking. So feel free to believe the crap that Dr Bill is telling people because he killed that bill for reasons you just won't understand. Next time please feel free to use my name. Dr Bill Rabon supports puppy mills because they bring in lots of money. Oh and if he was going to write a better one where is the ground work to prove it?
Anne C. replied:
Mandy please keep us posted. Also, River Road will nickel and dime you and Dr Bill supports puppy mills. Capeside is good and so is Brunswick Animal Hospital ask for Dr Anderson.
Laura D. replied:
Dr Hanby in Leland at Capeside, and they are open on Saturday s great place.
Anne C. replied:
I agree Laura Dr Hanby is a wonderful compassionate veterinarian.
Barbara M. replied:
River rd. Animal Hosp. Dr. Travis
Laura D. replied:
Dr Hanby was great with our elderly cat who had cancer. Capeside did not try to run up the bill with lots of excessive tests.
Ashley P. replied:
River Road Animal Hospital got my cat in quick two weeks ago.
Anne C. replied:
Mary Ann Windham the Rabon's are brothers but Dr Jim is a totally different person then his brother Dr Bill. When I go there I use Dr Anderson and he is really a good veterinarian. He has a great sense of humor and he doesn't play games with you and your pet.

I am looking for a reasonably priced veterinarian in or near Southport. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Rae K. replied:
We use Capeside because they have 4 Vets on staff so they are able to have regular hours on Saturdays AND Sundays. http://www.capesideanimalhospital.com/
River Run is a great vet too, I've been to both. Four paws saved my dogs life TWICE so have to give a shout out to them and is the least expensive if the two. Which ever you pick you well get good service!

Abby L. replied:
We love Four Paws!
Jim C. replied:
Four Paws, HANDS DOWN!!!!
Rae K. replied:
Four Paws is definitely the least expensive, and we have gone to them in the past. I really like Dr Marchetti who works there (especially when dealing with food allergies). We needed a Vet on the weekend, and we discovered Capeside. Also, I have 5 cats, and Dr Hanby comes and does a home visit.
Margaret M. replied:
when I lived there, I found River Run to be very accommodating: (910) 454-8910
ISO: vet that takes payments. My dog is sick and I need to take her to someone but her regular doctor won't allow partial payment and I am not in the position to pay...
