How to repair a torn insulated jacket? Sadly today at work my arcteryx atom lt jacket tore in two spots. I’ve reached out to arcteryx to see if their warranty will...
r_syzygy replied:
For sure have Arc'teryx repair it. If they don't do it under warranty, they'll just charge you for it, which would be worth the price compared to a seamstress/tailor. As for a replacement, the Atom AR will have a more durable face fabric. The jacket you just ripped has a 20 denier fabric, the AR has 30 d, something like 50 d Gore-Tex Pro would be really burly. Lots of options there, shells just get expensive.

Tenacious tape.
sotefikja replied:
Can you take a pic? If it’s a WPB, you can patch it with a goretex patch and some seam grip. If it’s nylon or something you can use tenacious tape and seam grip.
crappuccino replied:
Cut (and round the corners on) a patch of Tenacious Tape, slap it on and rub it in, let it sit for 24 hours, and you're good to go. AT would likely patch it up for you for a fee (wear/tear/abuse/misuse isn't a defect so you shouldn't expect them to do it for free under warranty) but TT would work fine. I use it to patch down coats all the time. Like /u/sotefikja recommends, I too like to take a little strip of tape and install it on the inner layer first, spanning the cut/tear, before applying a patch to the exterior.
One of my coworkers primary job is as a photographer, and he's slinging cameras around his puffy Cerium all the time. It's much more delicate than the Atom, and as such he's torn it on the shoulders at least two or three times now, but NBD.. guy probably keeps a roll of Tenacious Tape in his camera bag at this point.

NoSo patches come in fun shapes/colors. Check it out: * [https://nosopatches.com/](https://nosopatches.com/) Tenacious Tape also has 'shapes' patches I've used on my GoreTex jackets in the past.

What work? On super rough days in construction I'd wear my good backpacking/hiking stuff under a carhartt.
