Don't go to Abundant Life in the Woodlands...that place is a big ole scam!!!!! they sucked me in w/a Living Social, then after xrays tried to tell me i needed to start a thing w/them to the tune of about $5,000 (for a reverse curve in my neck). i bought an neck curve restorer for $100 & it's taken away all my neck pain (as long as i use it regularly).

Have u ever been diagnosed with any herniated discs in your back before? You can start with 1960 Family Practice.....Dr. Alex Nguyen. He will do an MRI of your lower back to see what's going on. I have lower back pain & sciatica......when it gets unbearable chiro has saved me!!!

If you want immediate results, I suggest a real acupuncturist. My husband went to Dr Kim in the woodlands. He couldn't drive and was hunched over in pain. He walked out standing straight. It may hurt a bit, while he 'releases the heat' but Dr Kim is nothing short of a miracle man in my book. PM me for his info if you are interested and I will get it to you tonight. Feel better...

Aimee Z. replied:
There's Rosner in North Carolina. and Henderson in Maryland, and Dr B at the Chiari Institute and Oro in Colorado.
Marcella C. replied:
Dr. D...do you have his full last name?
Emily R. replied:
Aimee and I were discussing Dr. Arnautovic via PM in regards to this thread, Marcella. Dr. Arnautovic is clearly quite experienced with brain tumors, skull base and endovascular disorders, and with spinal compression. But his curriculum vitae and publications don't give us any indication that he deals with Chiaris or maintains memberships in any of the Chiari organizations.
Marcella C. replied:
Okay. My primary focus is on the Chiari Institute at this point.
Emily R. replied:
Oh, wow. Didn't realize. You might also check on Dr. John Oro in Colorado. He'll even be accessible on Southwest Airlines and Colorado is closer to Austin than any of those other places. He is an experienced Chiari surgeon whom lots of patients have had good luck with and like a great deal. http://neurosurgerycenterofcolorado.com/
Marcella C. replied:
Aimee Zemanek, you think I should stick with Dr. Arnotovic?
Emily R. replied:
Marcella, it took me five completely incompetent, condescending neurologist duds plus four less-than-competent neurosurgeons before I found my way to this sixth one through my cardioelectrophysiologist. She understands Chiari, Chiari as it relates to EDS, and most especially the neurology of POTS and how that affects both our brains and hearts. She also cares. I've never heard her dismiss any symptoms I've reported, and I've even heard her agree that neurology is the dark hole of incompetence where this complex condition is concerned. She is literally the ONLY competent neurologist I've ever met in two huge medical cities. http://www.neurologydallas.com/dr-anna-s-tseng
Aimee Z. replied:
Cranial Cervical Instability is usually seen on a vertical MRI with flexion & extension...
Marcella C. replied:
Will probably make the trip to TN to see Dr. Arnotovic, the Chiari specialist.

Dr. Fayaz, did my husbands surgery. My husband had duraplasty along with decompression. I completely trusted him with the surgery, but was not impressed with the after care. Heather, who are you seeing now, dr. Pollack? How long ago did dr. Fayaz do your surgery?
Carla C. replied:
Highly recommend Dr . Christopher Bogaev in San Antonio. Very caring and professional. Came to the hospital everyday I was there.

Celeste stockert Beaher. Dr Fayaz did my decompretion surgery in 2010. I of course lost my job during that time so I also lost my health ins. So the only dr that I am seeing right now is pain mngt. But over the past year I have had many symptoms coming back. And this past month symptoms have gotten really bad so some hoe some way I have to figure out how to get an MRI done n get in to see dr Fayaz. I was very happy with the after care he gave me. He was very companionate understanding and answered all of my question where I could understand
April E. replied:
I don't know if he's still in practice, because I think he had MS, but Dr. Durrett was my pain management doctor, and he kicked butt! My NS was Dr. Morgan. I don't know if he's in practice either, or if Zale Lipshy is still around either, but they're both good too. Also Aimee Zemanek, make friends with her, and even if you don't like her delivery, she's worth her weight in medical knowledge gold!!!!!
Claudia G. replied:
Dr. David Jimenez - pediatric and adult NS who specializes in Chiari. Gave my son his life back at 17. UT San Antonio Health Sciences Center - he is the Chief of NS. Warm and gifted man - go see him. He also fixes many unsuccessful Chiari surgeries.

Dr Fayaz was my ns. I accidentaly walked into his office instead of the one I had an apt with, he asked to look at my exrays n he took me in imeadiatly. Three weeks later I had my decompression surgery. When he had broke the need to me about surgery I broke down in tears when I realized half my hair would be shaved off. I know it's vain but what can I say my hair is my best feature. Well he took the extra time and care to shave my head himself n he made sure it was neat n even. I later found out that he is a praying dr before every surgery he prays in the operating room that God would guide his hands through out surgery!

I have been seeing Dr. Howard Derman for years. He is fantastic. He doesn't push meds like most and he understands chiari. Most of all he listens and believes you. He's hard to get into but it's worth the wait. He's the neuro for the texans... So football season makes it worse. He's at Houston Methodist downtown.
