Heather H. replied:
Dr. Myers is the best around. Avoid chatham vet at all cost.
Amber M. replied:
Dr Myers sings to your pet while Amy gives them a treat while they get shots. She gets on the floor with them. They give you an ID card with your pets picture on it and what the shot record is. She comes to you and now you can go to her on browning roa d. I have 2 doberman pinschers and the youngest needed antibiotic for a UTI... She looked up the contraindications for sulphas and it explicitly stated it's contraindicated in dobies. So he got something else. My oldest had a growth on her leg and instead of cutting it off and having her go through anesthesia and recovery, (and if it were cancerous cutting it off would have made it spread and killed her) Dr Myers aspirated it and looked at it right there under the microscope and compared it to books she had to make absolutely sure. There is no other vet in the area better than Dr Myers.

Thanks for all the responses, we just got a new puppy and want to start off on good foot ! I think we will be contacting Dr Myers!
Anyone know of any low cost neuter/ spray veterinarians?
Charles N. replied:
@Amber Butler - The cheapest in the area is probably the Animal Protective League in Springfield. PAWS in Jacksonville takes a van of cats/dogs to be spayed/neutered. Just call PAWS (217-243-7297) and someone will call you back and explain the program. If you are interested in getting it done this month, deadline for payment/sign up must be by February 18 th. I have the information posted on my Facebook page, too.

Took my two kitties to APL in Springfield, picked them up the next morning. They still love me. https://www.facebook.com/AnimalProtectiveLeague
Tina B. replied:
Animal Protective League in Springfield is the cheapest around. Their number is 217-789-SPAY. They are located right next to the fairgrounds in Springfield. Dogs surgeries are around $55, cats are $35/$45 I think.
Danielle C. replied:
The APL has a low cost spay/neuter program. They are located in Springfield il. If you need transportation PAWS does monthly APL runs and charges $10 for going back and forth. He's a link to APL site. http://www.apl-shelter.org/.../Pri.../tabid/151/Default.aspx
Whitney B. replied:
Etheridge Animal Hospitial in Taylorville, IL is pretty reasonable. And they take very good care of your pets.
Echo friends, do any of you know a vet experienced with **Danes** who might be willing to be on standby once Echo is secured? He'll need a pretty good look over once...
Cherie M. replied:
Brewer Animal Hospital is on Clock Tower next to Taco Gringo. They are on fb and I just noticed Echo's info was shared on their page: https://www.facebook.com/.../Brewer-Animal.../258015938722
need to get our kitty into a vet--she has bitten a hole in one of her back lets--it is now swollen and she won't put pressure on it. I do have to say that we are those...
Christa A. replied:
Rochester Vet has my vote......l
Heather R. replied:
Rochester Vet is where I took Buster & Bella to get fixed--they were always nice--may give them a call too if Dr. Myers can't make it tomorrow. I know that is where we went when I lived there.
Heather R. replied:
Looking at pics, I think I may know Dr. Myers from way back--I think we used to live in the same apartment building. Mary Beth Maloney or Jennifer Meyer--do you know if she got her vet license in like the Virgin Islands or somewhere?
Jennifer M. replied:
She went to school there and got her license here. She has been practicing for 8 or 9 years. I worked for her at Capitol Illini and she was incredibly popular. Since she opened her mobile clinic, I volunteer when I can.
Jenni B. replied:
Heather you've met Kris Meyers before when we all went out when I worked with her! Call her or go to E clinic. She needs some care if it looks worse than we talked about this morning.:(
Nikkie S. replied:
I don't necessarily know how they stack up in price but Brewer Animal Hospital has the best staff in town.
Mecky L. replied:
Katie Luthin at Laketown Animal Hospital is great and they are reasonable.
Heather R. replied:
Called Myers Mobile Animal Clinic at 8:30 and they are able to come see Sid in about an hour! I am liking the fast service they are able to offer--sure hope they can fix her up!
Heather R. replied:
Julie Motley--is there one other that Dr. Boyce in Chatham that is good? that is where Dr. Boyce is too. Thanks Mecky--I will call them, but I have had other friends tell me that they were on the pricey side. I take Mari to West Lake so may just try there--I really like that vet.
Mary M. replied:
Dr Kris Myers-Stuenkel at Myers Mobile Animal clinic. Reasonable and she comes to you.
Jennifer M. replied:
She has a FB page....Myers Mobile Animal Clinic. All info on the page.
Jenn Y. replied:
I still use and very regularly... the Rochester Veterinary Clinic. I discovered that they are generally less expensive than other vets and they treat the animals as though they are your family member and not just "some dog/ cat" They care about your pets. I send everyone to them and have used them since my parents used them....
ISO a vet that will take payments. A friend has a pet having breathing problems and needs to get her seen as soon as possible. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you
Christina B. replied:
If you qualify, does a credit card specifically made for Pet expenses dental expenses and other options. I applied for one when my dog had an obstruction it's worth a try. Its called Care credit, https://mobile.carecredit.com/ I used to work at Capitol Illini vet clinic and they do not have much of a billing like other locations could however there are not many locations that work on payment plans
Any recommendations for a GREAT veterinarian in Springfield area?
Jessica D. replied:
Byron McCall at Capitol Illini is AMAZING!!
Melissa T. replied:
Dr. Murphy....comes to you, has a mobile vet. Even came all the way out to moms house to see moms very sick 170 lb coonhound!! Lol. And both dogs and cat love the mobile vet clinic...we had to bribe then with treats to get them OUT.

does anyone know of a GOOD vet in town that doesn't charge and arm and a leg. Took in a stray and wasn't really planning on vet bills at this time of the year.
Angela B. replied:
Chatham Vet Clinic
Maria K. replied:
Our vet in Taylorville is really good and so affordable! Parkside Veterinary Clinic on the south edge of town.
Maria K. replied:
Tina, you'd be surprised how much you'll save by going to Parkside in Taylorville. When our dog injured her mcl and needed surgery, Spfld vets were going to charge us over $2000. Parkside said she was too old for that particular surgery and did one that cost us $800. She's been fine ever since. They're also about 50% cheaper for shots that Spfld vets.
Kimberly E. replied:
We like Chatham Vet Clinic right on rt 4 they do a good job with our animals and it's much more reasonable than any other vet we have been to.
Any recommendations for a veterinarian? We have been going to Coble for years but they are more expensive and customer service has been pretty bad lately.
Don M. replied:
I went to Chatham Vet Clinic at 1500 N Main so many times when I was breeding they might ask about me. His wife also is from Waverly and lived on the same school bus route as us.
