any one recommend a cheap yet good dentist in town? I have been told several things about whitebird dental that isn't so great. I need to have an extraction asap, i was...
Bishma replied:
I don't know how he compares in price to others in town, but I can recommend Dr Eckstrom on River Rd. He was able to see me quickly when I broke a tooth and I was impressed enough to back to him for periodontal treatments. Then when my insurance company didn't want to pay for them his staff fought that battle for me and won.
timbertiger replied:
Avoid Mark O'Hara like the plague.
rAxxt replied:
If you don't have insurance, your best bet is probably just call around town and ask the different dentists how much they charge for an extraction. It might well be that they all charge pretty much the same rate.

Dr.Molly Vendetti is expensive, but the best I have gone to in Eugene.
ewest replied:
Dan Stambaugh in downtown Springfield is my doctor, and he's great.
luxferra replied:
Not sure how cheap it was, since I actually didn't call around for quotes or anything, but [Allison Cadaret](http://www.riverbend-dental.com/) in Springfield was amazing. I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled, no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend her. I called to see if they were accepting new patients, made an appointment, and had everything done a week later. I wanted it all done that day if possible, so they worked on my teeth in between patients/in their empty time slots. Very accommodating, professional, and good - both her and her staff.

Dr Anthony Elford. He is the ONLY dentist that I have ever been to who doesn’t try to upsell or make any services contingent upon something else. That was why I left my two previous dentists, so I can well relate to what you’re describing. He is also one of the nicest people you will ever meet, his dental hygienists don’t chatter away at you through the whole teeth cleaning, and his office has very relaxing decor—the whole package! He’s at 622 E 22 nd Ave in Eugene near the YMCA. 541-344-6371

I go to Bailey Hill Family Dental, if it's a convenient location they're good. I've been going there for about 10 years now and the first time I went in I had not been to a dentist in probably 5+ years so I expected the worst, but all I got was an extra thorough sonic scaling. In the 10 years I've been going there they have never suggested anything other than cleaning and x-rays and have no problem with me cutting back the frequency of x-rays since I never have problems.
The fact that they've never pushed anything on me makes me feel pretty confident. I even asked about my old amalgam fillings and if they would ever need replaced and they said no they'll last my life, so they just punted on an opportunity to pitch me new more stylish white fillings. Nicely reassuring.

Any new dentist you see is going to require an appointment for what is essentially a meet and greet where they will “diagnose” a cleaning. Prepare yourself for that.
Emnems replied:
I will add this to any thread about dentists AVOID ASPEN DENTAL AT ALL COSTS. The dentist may be a good person but the company and the practices fucking suck
controlsguy27 replied:
I was in the same situation a few years ago. I’m not sure what part of town you are but I recommend Quest Dental in west Eugene. They’re great! The main guy is retiring soon but there’s a new younger dentist there now that’s awesome!
bath_assalts replied:
I go to McKenzie River Dental with Delta and while they are not in network for me, the way they handle my anxiety has been wonderful and worth it.
2peacegrrrl2 replied:
I love my dentist and the hygienist is amazing. They take Delta but you may pay a little more, but it’s worth it I think. Dr. Whicker is very good and the teeth cleaning is very thorough. He’s a cosmetic dentist also but I’ve never been even asked if I want whitening (probably could use it) or veneers etc.
