Trista Chen earlier is better for grooming. Even just a nail trim and face tidy at 8 weeks or so after vaccinations is great. Better to start them off young. At 4-5 months they should come in for the first puppy tidy. That includes a bath, nails trimmed, ears cleaned and a tidy up of their sanity area. Then at 6 months they are ready for their first big boy/girl hair cut.

Becky Burgoyne most dog shampoo at market are unsafe for dog under 3 months. Younger puppy less expose with water the safer it will be cuz their skin is very sensitive and dry, they need that "coat" to protect their skin. Also, dog 3rd DHPP Vaccination will done by age of 16 weeks(4 months). Before dog has their 3rd DHPP vaccination less expose your dog with other dog the safer for your dog. That's the reason some grooming store will ask you to prove your dog done vaccinations, that's for protect your dog and also other dogs. Forget about dirty or messy hair about your dog if your dog is younger than 4 months and haven't done vaccinations yet. At this time, do it yourself. For their safety, groomer should let you know all the risk you are taking, not only how cute it gonna looks like.:)
