Dr. Hirsch is a Family Dr. and is affiliated with Beaumont Troy. He is our family doctor. It is an urgent care office too, which means that sometimes you will have to wait a little, but Dr. Hirsch takes his time with each patient, so it is worth it (to me). http://www.oaklandfamilypractice.com/ Madison Heights, MI Family Doctor | Oakland Family Practicewww.oaklandfamilypractice.com Joomla! - the dynamic portal engine and content management system

Do you know of any doctors in or around the metro Detroit area that specialize in CRPS. I can find doctors to treat it but I would love to...
Kristy L. replied:
I see the pain clinic at Henry Ford in west Bloomfield.
Sandi D. replied:
Cleveland Clinic was wonderful to me! I lived in Midland and had gone through what so many others do... Mine started in my right knee after Arthroscopic surgery for a torn lateral miniscus. That was 10+ years ago and I now have full-body RSD. Someone along the way (sadly, I cannot remember who), recommended the Cleveland Clinic's Pain Center and they were amazing. My Doctor was Dr. Michael Stanton-Hicks, and I soon found out he was a HUGE guru for RSD. Unfortunately all the treatments and procedures haven't worked - I now live in Arizona where the warm, dry air feels much better. I will keep you in my prayers... good luck.

I see Dr. Clague in Ann Arbor. He's a neurologist and specializes in CRPS. He's old and old school but he knows his stuff and writes damn good reports, especially for my workers comp stuff. He spends at least an hour with me every time I have an appointment, so he's not tryin to rush you out. He listens, which is another thing I love! (734) 973-7350 2020 Hogback Rd Ann Arbor MI 48105
Michele P. replied:
I have RSD in both arms & legs since 2007 & it spread from a minor hand injury after the spinal cord stim surgery in 2008..which did help for some years & still does on some levels..in 2010 I had a intrathecal pain pump implanted as well..temporary relief & good n bad days still..I will agree (Dr. David Kim)@Henry Ford is GREAT! Maybe you could see one of the other pain mgmt drs there since he is no longer taking new patients?? Also, (Dr. Glowacki)@Sunrise Institute for Pain Mgmt is AMAZING! He did his fellowship w/Dr. Kim@HF then opened his own practice & is thriving..he is well educated on CRPS/RSD as is Dr. Kim...I will also agree that Cleveland Clinic is amazing..they have a whole wing that specializes in CRPS/RSD..feel free to PM me if you would like..I have felt like a serious Ginny pig for awhile now & have tried everything at LEAST once! It all boils down to trial & error & a compassionate, patient dr....RSD is different & unexplainable on so many levels & on each individuals basis..it's not easy at ALL!! But, try-n-hang in there!!!
Jackie S. replied:
I went to Matrix Pain Center in Saginaw. They helped me with a spinal curd stimulator. It's worth a try.
Jackie S. replied:
I went to the Cleveland Clinic for help and when Dr. Stanton Hicks found out I didn't have insurance he told me my RSD in my left arm and hands was an allergic reaction to Neurotin. He insisted I make another appointment with their ortho-doc and himself on the same day dr a later date. I made the second trip from Michigan to do this, saw the ortho-doc who just told me I should not have had tendon surgery and then found out that Dr. Stanton-Hicks was not even in his office they day. Total waste of my time.
Rose C. replied:
Mine has been mainly in my legs, especially in my left. The pain has been full body. Now, my entire left side, including arm, scalp, to my spine is swelling, so painful. I also have full body Dystonic spasms with it. Have had it since injury In '94. I saw Dr Michael Stanton Hicks in '97 I guess. We live in Alabama, and as huge as the UAB Medical Center is here, there's not much available. The VA I think knows the most, it is just so crazy going there. I just don't know. My Dystonia has gone back into full storms after being relatively quiet for a few years. I give!
Melissa S. replied:
Loving the fellow Dr Kim fans ladies-- Kisha Nixon-Williams and Michele Paterno! I've been seeing him 11 years now-literally a couple days after an ortho trauma surgeon diagnosed me (and I quickly found he obviously had NO idea what RSD was once I talked to Dr Kim and read RSDSA and RSD Hope's web sites).
Kisha N. replied:
It's amazing to see people here in Michigan that are all going through the same thing, I also agree that dr David Kim is very educated in dealing with RSD! He is amazing, I have been treating with him since 2008!

Kathleen W. replied:
It depends on how severe yours is and how young the patient is...most teens/ young adults with it including myself have been referred to Cleve Clinic by multiple michigan hospitals/pain centers. In Georgia, found specialist at Shepard Pain Institute that immediately told me go gluten free; great to decrease inflammation (been 3 months so far). I've had CRPS 30 yrs right wrist/arm, 9 yrs feet, 3 yrs left arm and this year my face. Doing breathing meditation & psychotherapy training classes to get relief through breathing & mindfulness meditation, it's giving me the ability to slow down/relax the never ending pain messages and allow my body to rest which helps a lot.
Mary O. replied:
There are no rsd/crps specialists in Michigan but Cleveland Clinic Dr. Stanton Hicks. I go to my primary care pbysician, my orthopedic doctor, Dr. Billie Jo Page, and Michigan Pain specialists - Dr. Silverman. I have worked with them for approximately 10 years and they are great. They are in the Dexter/Chelsea area based out of Chelsea Community Hospital. I have had RSD since 2003 in left upper extremity. Good luck.
