ASKING FOR A FRIEND: I'm looking for some recommendations for a good family attorney in CT. TIA.
Julie O. replied:
I use Doug Barall in South Windsor 860-648-1660 for ongoing post divorce issues, he is reasonable and excellent at hearings, he doesn't put up with baloney from the other side, he also has a website you can leave an email on it to for a free consolation, he specializes in family law
Can anyone recommend a good Elder Attorney?
Thanks for your help!
Heather T. replied:
I realize your issues may have nothing to do with Alzheimer's but their website has a listing of recommended elder law attorneys. http://www.communityresourcefinder.org/CareOptions/search#d=1000&tl=elder-law&l=06078&ps=l&feature=sku-2011-pd-featured&homeSearch=1&sort=relev&pageSize=25&trv=0&loaded=25&sp=0&uid=2

George Bickford in East Granby. When my parents first went to him many years ago he even suggested that they record the meeting in case they needed to review what they discussed or share it with family. It came in handy as my parents got older.

I'm working for a good one right now who is also a Judge of Probate, so you know she KNOWS her stuff. She's been an Attorney for MANY years and re-elected to Judge of Probate several times. She's in S.Windsor, but it's only twenty minutes down Rte 5 & left onto Sullivan Avenue, she's on the right at 1199 Sullivan Avenue, Attorney Marianne Lassman Fisher. She's very good and reasonably priced, very often priced under others as she's just plain nice, but prices are relavant, but still her prices are good, imo, and she is super nice. 860-648-1140.

Highly recommend Spellman & Kelly, LLC in Suffield. As an attorney myself, I always go with lawyers who specialize in the field I need an expert in. If they teach the subject to other attorneys, and Victoria Spellman DOES, that's a good indicator they're experts you can trust. She did our wills and I learned things from her that they didn't cover in law school.

You can also call the local Bar Association for specific help for topics, they can direct you to an atty in the field of your concern. Oftentimes you can speak to an atty. I've worked for several who are happy to discuss something over the phone for a short time pro bono.
