Both my brother and I used Solid Ground Home Inspections. Stephen Houmard taught me more about my house then I would have ever figured out on my own. Even got a few gardening tips to draw water away from the house.

We used a different Jeff (Donaldson) from [ACE Preferred Inspections](https://acepreferredinspections.com/). He was great! We have an old home that has many, mostly non-fatal issues. He was meticulous, detailed all of them and was a delight to deal with.

Common View Home Inspections. His name is Doug and he just did ours a few weeks ago. Great guy and super detailed. https://www.commonviewhomeinspections.com
Home Inspector recommendations? Can anyone here recommend (or advise to avoid) a home inspector? Property in question is located in West Ashley.

I used Step by Step Inspections and they were very thorough. 2 years later and I haven’t had any surprise issues pop up that they would have missed.

Try the West Ashley Recommendations group on fb

ACE is a reliable group for home inspections.

Wouldn’t recommend Solid Ground from our experience a few years back. Maybe they’re better now...
Stephen was our inspector and got right to work when he arrived. After about 15 minutes, he found a major structural flaw (a crack in the foundation). He recommended that he stop the inspection as this would be something we would need to have an engineer evaluate if we planned to move forward with the purchase. Stephen told me that there would be a nominal charge (he estimated ~$50) for him to come out and for him to write a brief report of what he found. I agreed that this would be the best plan of action and agreed to it.
Later in the day, Erika (Stephen's wife) called me to let me know that the inspection would be the full $350 price. She was extremely rude to me on the phone and told me that "the inspector knows that he is not allowed to set the price." Rather than continue to argue with her, I paid the full inspection fee and requested that Stephen finish the job since we were paying full price anyway.

Wouldn't recommend Cardinal. Missed quite a few things (even some good) during inspection.
