I am not an expert, I just read a lot and belong to a couple ferret forums. this website has tons of good info on it including ferret foods, how to feed a sick ferret, etc,http://www.all-about-ferrets.com/what-do-ferrets-eat.html
Ferrets D. replied:
Cassandra S. Collins- here's a fantastic guide for ferret owners. it shows the top ingredients in ferret (and some cat) food. ferrets are carnivores and should not be eating grains or non-meat products as a part of their regular diet. your vet may not be aware that there are 'healthy' ferret food out there. check out the chart and see for yourself. http://moredooks.herobo.com/search.php?chart=ferret
OK, I need heartfelt vet recommendations for my senior kitty Lilu. I just can't go back to Stack again. I'm sure they mean well, but its become big business up there...

I cannot say enough about Fairmount Animal Hospital, especially Dr. Fatcheric and Dr. Bailey. I have used them for decades, and am continually impressed with the consistently high level of care and attention provided to my pets. It is not unusual to get a follow-up call from these vets, checking to see how their patient is doing. Top-notch care and genuine compassion. Very pleasant, attentive and helpful support staff, as well, and they now offer after-hours and weekend Urgent Care. Beautiful, new facility, on West Genesee St., just past Fairmount Fair, as you head west (just before Valvoline). 468-3446

Sorry we used True Blue for Waggy. Maybe Humane Society might know the answer.
Brad S. replied:
Fairmount Veterinary Hospital charged us $40 for the euthanasia, and we had him cremated at Pet Haven Cemetery in Onondaga Hill for about $100. However, he was a 13 lb cat. I think the cremation is more expensive based on weight.

John D. replied:
When looking for a new veterinary hospital, you have a lot of factors to consider. Although there are exceptions, I would look at hospitals that have the received the AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accreditation. This means that the hospital has met stringent quality standards that encompass all aspects of pet health care, from standards of quality of care, to the condition of the hospital, and to staff training and continuing education . You want to make sure your veterinarian has the knowledge, equipment, and protocols to properly diagnose and treat conditions that could easily be missed. Especially important because dogs and cats can't talk. Good luck.

Hello, I go to the Mattydale Animal Hospital. It's the only one in the Syracuse area with an exotic animal specialist (that I know of!). Also, if you don't find the owner, I would be glad to take him in:)
Maranda V. replied:
I bought Flea and Tick Shampoo for Kittens, let it soak for 5 mins, and the ticks were dead. Some of them even washed right out. I gave him the bath last night and there hasn't been any itching since then. Though I still have to pick a few ticks out of his fur. Marshall's Ferret makes medicated flea and tick spray so I sprayed his bed and I'm sure that helped. Vet is on vacation so check-up is next Wednesday. Picks will be posted soon because he needs a name! He's a tan/light brown sable.
Maranda V. replied:
Well, I used kitten flea & tick shampoo on my ferret and it worked great. Not too strong, you just can't use it on the face. It's called Sentry Purrscriptions Plus. My vet is an exotic animal specialist and she said it was fine as long as the ferret is at least 1 yrs old. I also have the flea & tick spray for ferrets and I used that on the bedding.
Matt K. replied:
Liverpool and Beaver Lake vets also see ferrets. There is also another one in B'ville but the name escapes me right now. I'm sure my better half will remember.
Melissa F. replied:
