The best company I know of is the Computer Repair Doctor: The owner is a member of BNI: Matt@ComputerRepairDoctor.com

NextGen, owned by Jimmy and Jim Wallace. They have working on my computer once and were great, but more important, they have the stamp of approval of my former tech who now lives and works in Washington state, Bonnye Westphal. Here's their info: jwallace@nexgenconsult.com

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions! Nicholas Tuma, the CPU is an LG that was configured for me.

Local Computer Repair Shops in Tally What are some good repair shops for computers in Tallahassee that you guys might recommend. Would any of you know of which places...

You can save a bundle of money by doing it yourself/finding someone on reddit or a friend who can diagnose the problem. It is free and easier plus you might learn something along the way. *Edit* Just read you bought it new from amazon. Because you kept the proof of purchase and bought through amazon keep up the pressure on both companies. See if you can call Dell and have them speak with amazon and you at the same time to get everything sorted out.
GIS-Rockstar replied:
There's a shop out on Apalachee that has a ton of really hateful religious garbage printed out and tapped to their front windows. Might want to avoid that place.

Go on craigslist. Remember that repairs on laptops can be quite expensive and may not always be worth it on an old laptop. Its never worth doing a significant repair on a 2 year old laptop. If it is under warranty then that can only be worked out with Dell. Computer Warranty isn't like insurance where you can just take it anywhere. If it really is just a CPU fan than you can probably get a new CPU fan and have someone replace it. However, I repeat....laptops are a bitch to fix.

$30, drop it off or sit with me for 30 min and we can open it up and see what the is the problem and most likely fix it swiftly. I've got spare laptop fans, heatsinks, etc. Chances are it'll just be clogged with dust and some compressed air will clear it and run it as good as new. PM me. Alternatively google "cleaning laptop fan" and you'll get some simple guides. I've never gone to a shop so I can't advise there, especially since you already know Geek Squad is useless.

All tech geeks. They do house calls and have a shop off Appalachee parkway. Owned by a middle age couple. They've fixed my company computers Atleast 5 times and my personal laptop twice. Highly recommended.

Aegis is just as useless as Geek Squad.
Incruentus replied:
Netphiles. They're fast, professional, cheap, and will try to SAVE you money by finding the fastest and most cost effective solution, as opposed to guys like Geek Squad (as I'm sure you know) who are looking for any way they can do the equivalent of a CT scan for a case of the hiccups.
Does anyone know of a good computer repair store in Tallahassee (Besides the FSU one)? My laptop has seen better days but I don't want it dead quite just yet. :P
