You're not going to like this answer, because it is all about personal preference. If you're going to be taking classes that require you to do a lot of audio and video editing, I would suggest an apple. Or I would suggest a PC with a lot of the right components. But if you just need a laptop to browse the Internet and use Microsoft Word or Excell, you can pretty much just buy your basic five to seven hundred dollar laptop at Costco and be just fine.
