Okay, how about Harold Tate with the goiter on his neck? He owned Standard Supply below East Seattle Grade School in the 40's and 50's. Then he turned it into an apartment house and went to work for Looks Drug Store. And how about the Samoa Drive Inn?
Leslie H. replied:
Yes, Merediths was in the same parking lot as Art's, on the west side. To the North (across the street was the Arco station, and in the southern end of that parking lot was a DQ, and a Coldwell Banker office on the SW corner.

To both Andrea and Debby Harris. Yes I remember the white house quite well. It was just above Crosbys and directly across from the Union 76 gas station which use to be on Island Crest Way. Wil Muncey was the first person I knew who lived in the white h ouse, which is how I met Wil. This was followed by Scott Curran living there, which is where I recall meeting Andrea also. Because there were sooooooo many parties in the white house, I would have to call that house "party central" during the 18-28 age period of my life. FUN to think back to this cool time period in my life! What a cool place Mercer Island was to grow up on!!! Also, I remember going to a Winchell's donuts which I seem to recall being right next door to the old White House restaurant (and both were across the street from the old Safeway grocery store). So maybe either Sally or Missy Green could update this more thoroughly because I believe their Dad bought the White House restaurant building and started a business in it.
John W. replied:
To Barbara, Yes, Peggy did live in the white house with Wil. After moving out of the white house, they got married, had a baby boy, but eventually got divorced. Wil's currently living in Hawaii with new wife of over 25 years, but only his wife is on Fa cebook. But "Muncey Racing" is on Facebook where you can look at many pictures of Wil's hydroplane racing career. Last May, Wil also self published a book titled "Winingest" which is an overview of his Dad's hydroplane racing career. You can read a review of his book at this website address: www.billmunceychronicles.com. You can also order a copy of his book at this website.

the Phoenician Cafe/Salaam Market has raw meat. That's where I typically go because it's within walking distance. I don't know whether or not they have innards. They are also closed today, unfortunately.
