Dr Ana Karovska, who goes by Dr Ana. I've been with her since May 2014. She's the first Dr I've had in the last 23 yrs that diagnosed my discoid Lupus instead of just chalking up my symptoms to my low thyroid condition so I believe in her and recommend her highly. She's with Premier Medical Associates, located at 1580 Santa Barbara Blvd in The Villages, phone 352-259-2159. I've never waited longer than 15 minutes to see her.

Does anyone new to the Villages know of a doctor that takes Florida Blue, is accepting new patients, and won't make you wait 2 to 3 months for your first appointment?
Can anyone recommend a doctor in the Orlando area who has successfully treated herniated, arthritic discs? This is for a person in his 50s who has been told nothings can...
Gail R. replied:
My Mother had same problems with many complications. Of course, she is in her 80's, but we were told same thing. Nothing can really be done for herniated (bulging discs caused by degerative osteo arthritic disease) .......she was referred to Pain Management off Rolling Acres Rd. and they have been treating her with shots. She is really doing great with them...She is on NO strong pains meds.....I, too, have degenerative arthritis and have had shots in my hips. Getting older with hereditary issues is not always easy. I have a friend in Carolinas that had surgery that was not successful. So, it is hard to no the answer and am sure it depends on the circumstances. However, Florida Musculoskeletal here in The Villages is doing stem cell. I went to one of their seminars and was fascinated. It was not insurance approved at that time (not sure now?), but many people who have had the surgery performed with great success. He may want to consult with them or ask his Dr. about Pain Management with shots. Hope this helps. Good luck to him.
Anastasia S. replied:
Dr. Broom he is amazing. http://www.floridaspinecarecenter.com/
Janet B. replied:
I had to pay $500 for an injection by Dr. Payman. Had two of them and had to pay cash because my BC/BS of FL would not pay. He is very good. Feel so much better. He is at 201 Guava St., (off of 27/441.) 352-391-1750. He will also help with pain medication if needed.

That’s a solid question. I had to help my roommate with that too. I also work in a courthouse. There are a lot of people out there who get very intimidated by filling out government forms. We have people at the courthouse who can aid with translation, illiteracy, or even just anxiety issues. You still have to fill it out but they explain what each box is for and in extreme cases may take dictation. My roommate specifically needed my help with medical aid forms. She has severe trauma based anxiety and many physical health issues. I’m telling you all this to assure you that you’re not alone. Now without a sympathetic family member or friend I’m not sure about specifics. Every state/county has different policies and programs. I know here in NW Ohio we have quite a few programs for job assistance where you can meet with a coach and they will also recommend and help with the forms for other programs if they feel you need it. Our public libraries are also very helpful and on less busy days will also answer any questions. I know this because my cousins husband is the head of one of the departments at the main branch. Incidentally a lot of the more educated and intelligent of our homeless population frequents this branch to try to get help, get warm, and a lot of really like to read. My point is there are a lot of places with patient people willing to help get you the help you need.
theaeao replied:
Ironically if I had meds I could probably do the forms and get meds.
Is anybody willing to recommend a general care physician, in The Villages area. We recently arrived, and need to establish a medical support system, ASAP.
Thanks, Matt
Sharon B. replied:
I think good specialists are easier to find than GPs. Seems like everyone we know goes to someone different / likes and dislikes. Good luck. I will be interested in seeing what shows up for you. We go to Dr. Khanna and his group at Premier Medical ...... we like it because they have their own Urgent Care and all the records are accessible.
Susan G. replied:
Contact Villages Health .com and get the packet of info on the healthcare system the Villages created. We are loving it. We were assigned a GP who referred us to prescreened specialists. These docs nly handle a max of 1200 patients and are schooled here in the "Marcus Welby" patient centered care System. Florida allows docs to open a store front in a strip mall with no real oversite Be careful. Play it safe with Villages health.
Melinda A. replied:
We go to Premier Medical. My husband sees Dr. Gegaj (Ghee Guy) and likes him. I see Dr. Ana.
Sue S. replied:
We also go to Premier Medical and see Dr. Ana. We like her very much
Matthew D. replied:
Thank you everyone. Melinda, you are the second one to recommend Dr. Gegaj. If Russ likes him, I think that he will be a good start.
Sharon B. replied:
I think I'm switching to Dr. Ana... I like lady docs. My husband likes Dr. Khanna who owns that center. He has been here in The Villages for like 20 years. One of our specialists also recommended Dr. Desia .. You're going to have to wait any where you go......especially Jan-March. 1 st appt am or 1 st after lunch. (GPs have to see like 3 x the number of patients now because Medicare doesn't pay much). Ocala Eye is fantastic for eye care. Ultimate professionals. MIT for imaging.........Dr. Jacobson owns it and he is a radiologist who does xrays, MRIs, and can do pic lines, drains, etc. Fantastic place.... at Summit Medical on 466 at Rolling Acres. Dr. Smirnoff for Neurology. Dr. Diaz for critical care medicine and pulmonary........he is head of Promise Hospital as well. (Hubby went through a tough year a while back and we had EVERYBODY !!) You'll really get some conversation when it comes to orthopedics.........our favorite is still Dr. Duke in Ocala.
Sharon B. replied:
Dr. Gegaj is part of Premier.......... again, they have their own urgent care and well worth it. The others don't have your full medical record........just what you put down on a form and that isn't enough.
Joanne S. replied:
We are in the Village Doctors...my first impression was totally worth it. Dr John Hocutt is kind, very happy to help He has a humorous approach to living here. We / husband and self just enjoy him. We have chronic diseases and he gets us to the best care with U of FLORIDA in Gainesville....which is also available in the VILLAGES. Many of the Docs are Alumna or from U. Of Cleveland. Personally we have played it safe and I have had the ugliest condition of FIBROMYALGIA and PERIVENTRICULAR LEUKOMALLACCIA/ an autoimmune disease diagnosis by the specialist, Dr. Raymond Dominic ( 910 Old Camp Rd. At LRUC IN THE VILLAGES. ) He handles mainly pain management, meds. But can assist with anything, a 17 yr. ER doc. He has been excellent, too. Hope you stick within the VILLAGES......we're all family here
Patricia H. replied:
I use Dr. Villa, she's in Spanish Springs on Buenos Aires...Her expertise is Pulminary and Sleep Apnea, but she is a GP....the only issue is her never ending waiting room and she does walk-ins with the help of another Dr. Make your appt. early in the day
Sharon B. replied:
OH YES.......... Dr. Dominic at LRUC is fantastic. Sometimes the urgent care docs give you a bandaid fix.......he will zoom in on the problem and get to it. He's the only one I will see there. We've lived here 11 years so we've seen a lot. We go to U Fla Shands for Neurology tho. Dr. Smirnoff here is a Shands Prof, but practices here. They have a fine tuned MRI but I think Villages hospital has one now. We have chosen not to go with the Village Doctors but have heard good and bad things about it. I like picking my own MDs..... worked at Texas Medical Center for 10 years so I learned a lot.
Elizabeth N. replied:
What Susan Saxton Gibbs said. Some of the doctors here aren't up to par at all. I would play it safe with The Villages Health System.
Tom O. replied:
I'm with Dr. Gegaj at Premier and I am very happy with him.
Looking for recommendations for primary care physician. Can't use The Villages Health care because they wont take my insurance.
Susan D. replied:
Dr Gegaj, Florida Heart and Vascular352 326 7850 He is a awesome internist Two offices, Santa Barbara and Laurel Manor
Anne H. replied:
Dr. Jagalur Old Camp Rd Sumter Landing
Dolores D. replied:
Dr. Ang she is wonderful and dose not push med's, also can make hospital calls when I'm in there, which means I do not need to use a hospital doctor because they stink as they are never ther as they cover Leesburg hospital, The Club and I believe Freedon Point rehab.
Eileen S. replied:
The Villages, FL' class='name_reco'>Dr Foster at The Villages, FL' class='name_reco'>Leesburg Family Medacine There are other doctors there as well. They have 2 offices, one is on 441 right neat the golf car bridge and the other is right beside the Leesburg Hospital. I just found out that they have a 3 rd offine right inside The Villages, too.
Becky C. replied:
Dr Felix Agbo. Have used him for 4 years. He now has a partner also. Agbo rounds in the hospitals also. I will not use the hospital physician .
Dolores D. replied:

Rick L. replied:
This was a standard form that they give to all cataract surgery candidates. It had all the fees that they charge for all procedures that they do. So for a simple cataract removal, it was $300. I thought if a doctor accepted Medicare & Blue Cross as payment...that they couldn't charge the patient! Have things changed. This is the first time I've ever been told I had to pay out of pocket!
Janet C. replied:
Husband and I have been using Dr. Armstrong from Ocala Eye since we moved here 10 yrs. ago
Michael D. replied:
Google Dr. James Gills founder of St Lukes in Tarpon Springs. I think you you will be as impressed as I was. Good Luck Mike
