Don't live in Buffalo anymore but I loved Anytime Fitness (in the NFBLVD Wegmans plaza). Best perk is it's always open so you never have to worry about hours. It's also small in a good way, just the right amount of stuff, and never super crowded. I loved that gym and wish there was something similar in Rochester.

What are you looking for out of a gym? There are gyms, which offer: * boxing (http://kcsfitness.com/ , http://boxstartraining.com/) * mma (http://www.wnymma.com/) * cardio tracked heart monitoring (https://amherst.orangetheoryfitness.com/) * Spin , other (https://www.bikeorbar.com/) There are obviously more but this is a start I suppose.

LA fitness is excellent, especially for when you travel to other cities

The Independent Health YMCA would be exactly what you're looking for. Everything is brand new and they have every class you could imagine if that's your thing. Multiple pools, sauna, steam room. Large weight room, tons or cardio equipment, indoor track (9 laps to the mile), multiple basketball courts. It's not cheap ($~75 for a couple, I think like $55 for an adult) but if you're getting subsidized, check it out.

I like the Jewish Community Center on North Forest.
SURVEY QUESTION??????.... Would a doggie fitness center be a place you would consider for your pooch? Group classes, private classes, core strengthening classes,...

I really enjoy the YMCA. There are several locations throughout the region and you can visit any of them. They offer group exercise classes at no additional cost, and certain locations offer other classes that do cost a little extra (example: my taekwondo class). Gateway Region YMCA is the name of it around here, so I would definitely check it out! Not sure how pricey it is compared to other gyms, though.

Look into local rec centers. They offer discounts for residents and people who work in the area. Cheaper than most gyms that offer a decent amount of services. Gyms that charge $10 are often over crowded and don’t provide much as far as other services.

I’ve heard good things about Planet Fitness. Thinking about joining myself. The YMCA can suffer from just as much overcrowding and still charge 5 times more. This is especially true after the first of the year.

I think club fitness is way better than planet fitness. Club fitness even gives you a free training sesh that is super helpful to learn all the equipment!

Might be a little out of your way since it is off 270 in Maryland Heights, but I've heard great things about Pursuit Fitness & Performance. It is a small place, so you won't feel overwhelmed as a beginner. https://pursuitfitnessandperformance.com/

I'm a little late to the game here but I thought I'd throw in my two cents. I've been a member at Golds, Planet Fitness, Club Fitness, and the YMCA.
Planet Fitness - This is my current gym. I think its the cleanest and most well kept of all of them(Locker Rooms included). Cant beat $10 per month and you don't sign a contract. Personal Trainers are there to show you anything, but there are no classes that I am aware of.
Golds - Has the most different types of gym equipment. My branch also had free childcare, a Pool, hot tub, sauna, and basketball court which I liked quite a bit. My membership was around $30 a month and I had to sign a contract. That may be different now. Classes are free and abundant but the trainers are extra (independent contractors) The cons to Golds was the abundance of your prototypical meathead lifting Bros and that it was constantly crowded, you may have to get there 45min ahead of time to get into a class. Not as clean as the other gyms either.
YMCA - This was my most expensive membership but it probably had the most perks as well. My branches had Pool, sauna, basketball, racquetball, free classes, childcare, and towel service. You'll see more regular people and very few meatheads. If it were cheaper I'd still be a member here.
Club Fitness - This was my least favorite. I could have just had a bad branch but it was small, no frills, no locker room or showers, older equipment, and less clean than the others. I quit this place pretty quick.
If they all cost the same Id rank them:
1)YMCA
2)Planet Fitness
3)Golds
4) Club fitness
Hope this helps!
Does anyone know the status of the community fitness center at the high school? Is that still going on as planned?

Joe Kancar, Dawn Palmisano dad works at the HS and told me it was going to be open to the community too

It is now open to students and facility. The acting/Assistant Rene Smith is working on information for the superintendent that will present it to the school board, when the this will happen I don't know but knowing Dr. Newton once he has the info he will present it.
So now that I have moved I need a new gym. So far I have found three gyms within 3 mins of my house. Best fitness, planet fitness and crunch. Anyone suggest any of...
