Bob Taylor at Taylor Automotive quoted my Silverado for 100K service for a little under 2K...Chase wanted to do it for at LEAST 3K. I thought my transmission and differential were going out (different times) and he checks to make sure fluids are okay and everything checks out before he does any servicing...basically making sure he doesn't charge you for something you don't need done...don't fix what isn't broken. So honest and trustworthy, explains everything so clearly...all of which is so hard to find lately and especially in this area.

Go to mechanicsfiles.com, and search using your zip code. That's a database of great mechanics who have been personally recommended by readers and listeners of Click & Clack over the years. No one gets to "buy" a review on that site.

Just a friendly tip....for any kind of potential car repair, go to www.repairpal.com and type in the year, make and model of your car in question and then enter the type of automotive repair needed. It will give you what is considered a fair price for the repair or replacement being considered. What's more, it gives you both the dealership repair cost vs. a private mechanic and also gives you mechanic recommendations for your area. I've used it many times and it is a useful guide for what to expect in terms of cost. That being said, I've used Taylor Automotive for years, and he never disappoints.
