Crystal Wright's book is one to read as well before deciding on education...you really need to know what you want to do and know the right questions to ask and things to look for before deciding on a school or you could end up throwing your money away like many of us have...

Dana Ivancic there are also many reputable educators that partner with The Powder Group and you'll find them posted here. These would be great as a starting point prior to investing in longer term education or a school if that suits your budget as well.

Hi Dana Ivancic massive congrats on wanting to seek out education. I totally understand you have other responsibilities. Maybe when you have more time you can find a good school that can teach you. You never said what type of artist you'd like to be--this can guide you in your decision. I wrote this article for folks in your position.https://deshawnlovesmakeup.wordpress.com/2014/12/06/why-go-to-school-for-makeup/

Dana Ivancic fabulous--then knowing this will save you thousands. You could benefit from private lessons. I'm not sure how good you are but, you could need maybe 1-2 lessons and then you're off and running. Start researching makeup artists in your area that specializes in editorials or at the very least brides. Pick only the best ones). Go get bridal magazines and compare their makeup to those, if its too heavy looking you'll know to move on. If you are close enough to a major city, they may have makeup agencies. You could call a few of those, and see if they can direct you to someone on their roster that could instruct you. Just because there's a school near you doesn't mean its the right one. ALL THE BEST DANA

Hey Dana Ivancic! there are great schools that focus solely on makeup application across various areas of work that we at The Powder Group stand strongly behind. MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy in NY, Make-up Designory in LA or NY, Cosmix in Fort Lauderdale, Make Up First in Chicago, Michigan Makeup Academy in the Detroit area, CMC in Dallas and of course everything that The Powder Group does. ;) Research what meets your financial and skill set needs and go from there. Some of the above offer short programs as well as long. Some have financial aid. I hope this helps!
