Could someone suggest a restaurant in or around town? Steak or lobster with a nice atmosphere? Thank you and happy New Year to you all.

Not one suggestion for a Frank Stitts restaurant. Surprised. Here are my opinions. Don't go to Fleming's. It is absurdly overpriced. The food is a cut above average. Don't go to any franchised restaurant. Birmingham is full of astounding restaurants wi th their own chefs. My favorites are: Bottega, Highland Bar and Grill, Chez Fon Fon, Hot & Hot, Rojo, Ocean. There is a very nice low country restaurant in Crestline but I don't recall the name. For world class Asian you should go to the Red Pearl. Bottega has both a high and low side, I.e. formal vs relaxed. Dave's in Homewood for good pizza. The Fish Market downtown for the best seafood in Alabama. Dodeyo' s in Homewood for high end Greek cooking at a reasonable price. That's just a few.

There is also Chez Lulu in English Village. They are offering a four course meal for 60 or 80 with paired drinks for this evening. Reservations required.

If cost is not an issue, Fleming's or Shula's if you can get in. J. Alexanders is a good everyday restaurant for the price. Firebirds is also good.
