We don't live in the area anymore but we used Dana Herring for 3 years and loved her. Her number is 678-770-6362 or email danaraye@bellsouth.net. Her company is called Kitty Keepers but she did our dog. She also waters plants, takes out trash/recycling, switches lights so it looks like you are home. Reasonable prices.

Any dog boarding recommendations? (Our dog is an escape artist - so that does limit our options). Thanks in advance for your input.
Nicholas V. replied:
If you can leave them home and have a a pet sitter, we recommend Critter Sittin Sisters. They do day visits for our 3 dogs and may be able to do over nights. They have a full schedule so may not be available but we aways share their info. If we trust our pets and home to them that says something. https://m.facebook.com/crittersittinsisters/

We board ours at his vet https://www.facebook.com/467027036713294VCA Lilburn Animal Hospital- he loves being there and always seems sad to go home when we pick him up. The staff there is wonderful and I have peace of mind as the doctors are there every day. They're also open 7 days a week which is nice for drop off/pick up

Dekalb Animal Hospital is great for boarding ! My dog loves it there
Bridget M. replied:
I use Camp Woof also. Very happy with their attentiveness. I also recommend Winding Creek Kennels in Winder. Very attentive to the boarder. Someone stays overnight with boarders. Good place if your dog has medical/separation/storm or thunder issues. It is almost 1 hr away. They do have a pick up/drop off service. There is also Kings Creek Kennels off Ross Rd., Snellville. It is an older facility. I have an older dog who prefers to sleep so this is facility is good for him. Owners live on property. My other lab is younger and prefers the social life at Camp Woof. There is no one there at night.

I want a Chow when I graduate! Any tips? I'm graduating in a year or two, and I wanted to get a chow chow. I've seen them in pet shops, but I tend to avoid those because...
bagelbey replied:
Hey! I have two chow chows, and I absolutely LOVE them.however. They take a LOT of work. My biggest advice is to socialize it as much as you possibly can. Chow chows get a bad rap for being aggressive, they can be very territorial and protective. I would get in a puppy training class right when you get him. Take them out to the park and let them meet as many people, children and other dogs as possible when they are young and keep doing that as it grows older. The second thing is their fur. Chows have two layers, an under and top coat. You need to brush them really often, and not just running a brush through it. You have to get down to the skin, like parting it as you go to get the loose undercoat out. I got one of those dog blow dryers and it is amazing. The shedding inside is nearly completely gone. Every time I brush them I hit them with it and I still can't believe how much hair comes off. get it used to going to the groomers early too. Mine hate it so I have to do all of it myself which is such a huuuuuge pain. Seriously though, they are a lot more work than other breeds but I wouldn't trade them for anything. Chows really bond with their owners and will love you like no one else.
strenif replied:
I would strongly advise you not to get a chow or any dog for awhile. Dogs take a lot of time and effort, and if you're just getting into the job market you want to focus on that. edit: oh and money. Dogs take lots of money.
akelen replied:
Just got my first own puppy for about 4 weeks ago, she's 14 weeks. And you can see that they are a bit more stubborn than other breeds that we have had (bernese mountain dog, newfoundland) But i don't feel that they she is protective about me or aggressive towards other people/dogs.
She want to check out everything so you know if she stands still with her head up and staring it's time to call here in because there is someone/something nearby that she is interested in. Have happened once that she got away from me to greet a dog before i could put on here collar, but i blame that on my parents dog that distracted me :)
But then again i try to socials here as much as i can both with people and other dogs. Have heard here grow once but that was on a neighbour that sat behind a fence and "hid" other than that nothing.
Can't help you with any breeder since i live in Sweden. You can also consider that i haven't had here for that long also so.

This may be late, but I highly recommend a rescue. I got my girl from Chow Rescue of Central New York. There are a lot of discarded chow chows that need love, and will give it back a hundred fold.
