I know there's a very famous tattoo artist who works at a shop on Ponderosa St. In Santa Ana/Tustin area. Wish I could remember his name, but I'm drawing a blank. Read an article about him in OC Weekly a while back...

What do you mean by more technical? There are some good recommendations in here, but when you say "Street Shop" that typically implies walk-in tattoos done that day, that do not require an appointment. Sid's is a street shop, and highly highly respectable - but do not go there for anything technical. It's an old-school traditional style shop. They pull off amazing tattoos, but if you don't have the eye to appreciate that style - you won't be impressed. Mule Tattoo is great too. Probably the most reasonable recommendation in here. Lowrider, Captured, and Gold Rush are high-end.....not sure I would consider those "Street Shops". The chances of you walking into Captured and getting tattooed by Dan or anyone else there on a Saturday afternoon with no appointment is slim to none. Same with most artists at Gold Rush and Lowrider. So, can you clarify a little more? 1. What style tattoo are you looking for 2. What is your price range 3. What area of Orange County 4. Do you want to be able to walk-in anytime? Or schedule an appointment? Keep in mind it could be 6+ months at really high end shops. Just off the top of my head I would recommend Classic Tattoo in Fullerton or Torch Tattoo in Anaheim. A little more expensive than the average shop, but way worth it and they have a street shop vibe. Not enough info to really dial in a suggestion. Southern California is a mecca of tattooing so you can be **very** specific about your requirements when asking what shop to go to.

I get all of my work done at Future Tattoo in Fullerton! Blake Weaver and Nathan Houtz are the artists I've worked with and they are both excellent. I attached an album of all the ink I've gotten there-- nothing big or crazy but their quality is fantastic, their prices are low (I've never had to pay more than $120 for one tattoo). Blake is the more experienced one and probably will be better with technical stuff, Nathan is great with illustrative/ neotraditional style stuff. http://imgur.com/a/Nf73 j
