Kate, I use the vet that Dee talked about. The name of the place is Munsu Animal Hospital. Like Dee said, she speaks English and is very gentle with the animals. Have been using her for over 10 years.

Deirdre M. replied:
Very cool, JT - that's a great link! (And the sign is hilarious). Kate, the road is the third exit on the rotary, if you're starting on the main Mugeo road, and going in the same direction as traffic flow - First exit is up beside the fly-over, 2 nd heads to Taehwa Rotary, 3 rd is the one you want. Herb Coffee is on the street, along with a Nonghyup bank.
Fin M. replied:
Mr. Goh is the only English speaking mechanic in town, he's the only guy most sportbikers trust, and he's pretty much family. The downside is, he's in bangeojin
Deirdre M. replied:
Also, I second Mr. Goh. While it's a bit of a drive to Bangeojin, he is trustworthy, and isn't going to tell you there's a bunch of shit wrong with your bike that isn't really wrong.
Jason T. replied:
Ulsan Autobike has a long history of working with foreigners. Their English may not be as good as Mr. Goh's but they are a heck of a lot closer. They are just down from the Jung-gu Home Plus next to the Byeongyeong Intersection.
Hello everyone, we are looking for a good vet who speaks at least a little bit of English in the Seongan-dong OR the Seongnam-dong area.

I bought the forms and instructions for my country off a website... maybe pettravelstore.com Anyways they gave step by step instructions for your specific country and it was all updated they stay on top of it. After I printed those forms it was really easy to have my usual vet sign them. I used Smile Animal Hospital in Mugeo the first time and one in Samsan near Namgucheong the second time. Many vets here speak English and mine didnt even charge me for filling out all the forms with me.

Anybody know of a reputable vet in the dong-gu area? Need to figure out this registration thing before 2014 hits! Thanks!
Deirdre M. replied:
Thank you, Shirley King Redd - I've added that information to the Where to Find section on UlsanOnline.com, and I've pinned the location on the Interactive Map, under Pet Care. smile emoticon
Deirdre M. replied:
I'm actually pretty much on the opposite end of the city, sorry. I highly recommend Smile Vet in Mugeodong, opposite the University, but that's a long way from Donggu. I have to take my dog in this week for her shots, so I'll ask him if he knows anyone - if there are no forum answers by then smile emoticon
Any recommendations for a good vet here? My pup comes in on Friday. We are willing to travel a bit if there are better options in Busan, etc!

PetCare Animal Hospital in Busan is the best. Love them. But maybe Ashleigh Simons can help you out with an Ulsan recommendation?

Leo M. replied:
Well, there's two steps. one is vaccianations. your dog should be up to date with those by default. Alll vets give the standard vaccs. The second step, and the crucial one is the antibodies (titer) test for two particular things: Distemper and Parvovirus. These two are a "clear and present danger" in Korea. And in about 25% of dogs the standard vaccinations are not sufficient. Those tests should done yearly for all dogs, irregardless of my kennel, just for safety. I know too many "vaccinated" dogs that have died of distemper and parvo.... If you send me an email to shindogskennel@gmail.com I'll send you more details. Cheers

That's the good news they are changing the policy. It was really upsetting to see kittens - luckily we have Hot Dog now! I never used this vet clinic, only bought my cat's food there in the past. Off-topic, with my cats, I go to My Cat Clinic at Lee Seung Jin Vet Hospital across, and cannot recommend Dr Kim Mi-Ryung highly enough. She is a great doctor, got both local and US vet qualifications, her English is fab. I even exchanged kakao messages/photos with her when my cat had some sort of dermatitis, which saved me an unnecessary visit. She dealt with US labs when my first cat got a suspected fip. Now she has been dealing with the tests necessary for my surviving cat to travel to the UK.
Natalia M. replied:
This is the second clinic that i went to (first one was Gangnam vets here close to namgu council and i didnt like it) so i did not and cannot comment price-wise. Went to my cat clinic for scaling, antibodies etc and it didnt strike me as super pricey. I even had a follow up appointment that was free (unexpectedly)

Kit I go to 24 Smart Vets with my kitten and they seem reasonable. Mind you, I haven't had a pet before so I can't say if they're expensive or not. For most things they've been in the 20,000—60,000 range. Most of the staff speaks English, to varying degrees. I haven't had a problem communicating with them. They're very nice.
