Re-posting with rules...I had to delete the last post because people couldn't play nice. So lets try this again...looking at the dogmatic head collars...anyone know if...

http://www.k9 bridle.com/video8.php Goodness knows I'm no expert, but to my it looks like the dog in the K9 bridle video is constantly licking his lips and is very uncomfortable!

I just watched the video showing how to use the dogmantics head collar, and found it a little alarming. They actually suggested extending the training lead. Which I was under the impression when using a head halter that hooks under the jaw, you must use a short lead to avoid your dog running suddenly and jerking and harming their neck and spine. Then they suggested you could also hook the double ended lead to another dog... which seems so clearly dangerous to me. I came into the video a bit biased anyway, but that really sealed the deal for me on not buying their product. I am really shocked to see the suggestions they are making. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTjhmfBhvis

The K9 bridle seems to work like the Canny Collar - it attaches at the back of the head and then tightens if the dog pulls or lunges. I tried the Canny Collar briefly and found it a bit of a waste of time, as my dog soon learned he could still pull as with a normal flat collar. Just my personal experience, but the headcollars that attach under the jaw OR a figure of 8 lead are far more effective with strong dogs.

Why would you put a potential aversive on an already reactive small breed dog? Something like this is non aversive and allows control http://dog-games-shop.co.uk/perfect-fit-fleece-dog-harness

I also said before Hannah Crook that I wonder if its security blanket im sure it has something to do with it intresting what you said about front clip harness Yvonne Kartner as I also use one at times and I have wondered about chaffing although I havent seen any signs have been looking to find padded front clip but cant find any
Tabs C. replied:
Kim Elliott - just to answer the query in your last post: no, the Dogmatic does not tighten at all.
Tabs C. replied:
Claire Staines - just to mention that I have used a headcollar with my very reactive boy. It has helped hugely.
Tabs C. replied:
Jeanette Jeannette Kincaid - sorry but that is entirely wrong, re your comments about the Dogmatic. That loop does **not** constrict. No part of the Dogmatic tightens nor constricts.
