If Crouse isn't too far for her I suggest Cathy Berry and associates VERY highly. 3 docs, 2 midwives all women and very supportive of natural birth. I had a natural VBAC with them 2 months ago. No pain meds, no pitocin during OR after, immediate skin to skin and nursing, delayed cord clamping. They even asked me if I was going to want to keep my placenta. I also second the doula recommendation so that she can stay home as long as possible with support and also for help in creating a birth plan. I used Doulas of CNY.

I second Ania. Rome Memorial and MV Women's Health Associates has way lower c-sections rates than the other local hospital and I hear they have awesome support for bf .

I had a natural birth at Rome Hospital and the staff there was very supportive. They offered techniques to cope with the pain instead of medication. They asked my wishes ahead of time and sruck too them....reminding me that I had wanted to do it naturally when I caved for a moment and asked for meds

Rome is wonderful. I had my second child (first son) there in 2008. He was delivered by Nancy Peek midwife with Mohawk Valley Womens Health. She was beyond wonderful. She was so helpful and proud you'd think she was his Grama with how involved and attentive she was. I was really amazed with her bedside manor. I then had my twin sons there in 2011, although I had anticipated having my midwives again I ended up with a c-section at 1:30 am with Dr. Guistra also from mohawk valley womens health and she was also great. I was terrified for the c-section and the anesthesiologist talked to me and kept me calm and relaxed and held my hand during the entire procedure! It meant more to me than he could have known at the time and I am grateful for that. My first child was born at St. Lukes in 2001 with 3 rotating male Dr.'s and the experience was more than stressful. I was disgusted by their bedside manor, they were rude, bossy, and insensitive. I am very thankful at the time they did allow midwives there and my Dr.'s were mid shift change, I ended up with a midwife I had never met and she was an Angel! Thank you Joan Roberts for being an amazing midwife and advocate for moms. She is the reason I switched to Rome and Mohawk Valley Womens Health because that is where she was working when we had decided to have the rest of our children. I'm so glad I did because all of their staff is beyond wonderful. Even their receptionists are awesome, friendly and leave a lasting caring impression. I have to say although Rome was smaller their staff is amazing and on top of your needs all the time. I would recommend Rome. They also made the National top 10 for safest, cleanest hospitals with least re-entry's due to complications from procedures which is a big deal. I got that out of readers digest not their staff, lol.

Mohawk Valley Women's Health Associates. This group had midwifes and doctors and the lowest C-section rate in the area.

I had the same type of experience at Crouse; with the University Obgyn Associates on Irving Ave. Natural vbac, very understanding about mom's wishes, kept the lights dim and the room quiet for me during labor (even asked if I wanted to pull him out myself!) immediate skin to skin and the entire stay, my baby never left my side.

I attended (as doula) a birth at St Luke's today (baby girl born at 4.31 pm ) with Dr. Baruah and she was respectful of the mom's wishes for an analgesic free delivery. Mostly I hear good news about Cooperstwon and Crouse though

Dr. Cooley in Oneida is my ob, he's very understanding of the mother's wishes I think, he's with Oneida Hospital, which is fantastic and has a wonderful maternity ward

I'm actually a L&D nurse in Oneida. Dr Cooley is wonderful with his pts but has decided to stop delivering babies in June. Not sure if he's taking anyone new if they're due before then or not. Def worth a shot though. He puts baby directly to mom and delayed cord clamping every time

Try Dr Arul Kannon great MD will make sure u well taken care of

I have been seeing Sally Callahan (fnp) at 4401 Middle Settlement Rd Ste 201New Hartford, NY 13413 for years-Tim's parents recommended her (and still see her) I don't need to visit her often but like her a lot!
