I've always wondered what happened to Dr. Alice Nelson--I went to her in the 1970 s here in Ojai when I was trying to learn yoga from a book and tweaked my neck.
Ronelle W. replied:

Whenever I am in a sports accident, I appoint with Laurie Edgecomb. Her treatments have been the only thing that takes the pain away. http://www.laurieedgcomb.com/
Suza F. replied:
Peggy LaCerra, that hanging position you describe above is great for relieving back and neck pain and is described in the Back Care Basics book by Dr. Mary Schatz that I posted above. I recommend you do this with a partner standing by to help secure your legs and make sure you can safely come out of the position.

If your dad's inversion table provides relief I think you will love yoga wall ropes. Many yoga studios have them (there are various systems but the one that's easy to install at home is posted above). You can see lots of photographs at one of my yoga sites: https://www.facebook.com/OjaiYogaForScoliosisWithSuza

I have been going to Dr. Dee in Meiners Oaks. 646-3454 I must say, it is not easy getting in. She's been working out of her home for years. She is EXCELLENT! I also have a "Hang Up" at home I use for maintenance after adjustment. They are awesome and keeps everything in alignment. (your father said it saved him from having surgery!)

The senior yoga class at Little House is Chair Yoga for those unable to do floor exercises. Over at Lulu Bandha's they havedifferent levels of yoga classes for seniors, and these classes are at a reduced price, sponsored by HELP of Ojai. Call Rose at Little House 646-5122 and ask what's available at present.
Suza F. replied:
Ojai Healing Movement is an excellent place to start. It is also important to note that a well-trained yoga instructor teaches body mechanics. I highly recommend NOT starting yoga in a so-called flow yoga class but find a beginner class (Yoga Basics or Gentle Yoga) that teaches the poses individually with the support of yoga props.
Suza F. replied:
My courses are full at the moment but if you are still looking in January check here: www.suzafrancina.com
Barbara G. replied:
Actually, Linda Jordan, from the pics I could see on your FB page, you look way to young for the movie discount but Suza said something about only needing to be 50 for the senior yoga lessons discount ~ worth checking into perhaps:)
