Infrastructure Funding and Border Security... BOTH LONG TERM FAILURES FOR BOTH PARTIES... Infrastructure Funding--While I supported "Stimulus" in the past, it did little ore than become a State Welfare giveaway for Governors that mismanaged their States. I also wrote plans and favored "Bailouts (here are some economic spreadsheet samples shared like the ones I shared with the House and Senate Financial Services Committee's "Frank and Dodd") https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B-ygIxNdW7E9YjJkZDkyZTgtYmZjMS00ZjcyLThiOTEtNTFkYzE1YWM3OTQ5&hl=en_US . Like most people saw that "Bailouts" were misused and did little to help the people keep their home, but instead with to choice Banks so that they could gobble up smaller community banks that serve the people... The old "Greed is Good" False Dichotomy as apposed to the realities of supplying "Need is Good"... Border Security-- Border Security has become an issues, because the Federal Government has had failed "Free Market Policies" that lost and/or exported jobs as apposed to creating jobs... We have to do little more than to look to the Bible and/or the Golden Rule of "Love they neighbor as thyself; treat others as you would like to be treated." I for one miss the Clinton days when he had created more than 23 million jobs and there were opportunities for the Mexicans that crossed the border... The Border issue hyped up as failed NAFTA Reforms from both Bush, Sr. and Clinton's "Fast Track" vote up or down lead by Newt Gringrich pushed it full steam ahead that cost jobs as Ross Perot stated... The Trade Imbalance with Mexico is over 200 Billion a year... The Solution is not Federal Government Infrastructure Funding, but "Infrastructure Banking" via Local and State "Comprehensive Planning" mandates that create growth and development such as this one I wrote for my home area https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B-ygIxNdW7E9NzY2ZWNiMDUtN2VlYS00NGM2LTg1YzEtYzQyNzg2NjEyN2U5&hl=en_US a plan for the U.S. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B-ygIxNdW7E9MGRhMzdiMjEtNTNmZi00NDE1LTkyOTAtNGRhNWRmNjRmOGU4&hl=en_US and this one as a United Nations Mandate https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B-ygIxNdW7E9YWE5NTBmNjMtZmY5OC00YmMyLThkNmUtNTc1MWJhMDVhM2Zj&hl=en_US ... Without planning that increases GDP there will just be more Deficit Giveaways that place America in a more likely economic default position... Then there will be no funding mechanisms... The Border Security Issue can be dealt with via a VAT "Value Added Tax" that can be used for "Deficit Reduction" as well as "Trade and Commerce" enhancement that makes the Federal Government a partner, not a prison... Public Private Partnerships (PPP's) can expand cross border trade and commerce, while offering a number of security measures... Some I have written about in more detail such as M-AID http://thesop.org/story/20120123/maid-fund-can-solve-the-americanmexican-border-issue.html which also has an infrastructure funding aspect to it. Defense Austerity and/or Shift to "Constructive Production" such as the United States did after World War II can help solve both problem and more. Defense austerity has set a path of post war to cutting nearly 1/3 rd of its budget, will allow a shift of nearly 300 billion or (about a 1 BILLION DOLLARS EACH DAY) that could be shifted back into American Infrastructure projects (again Comprehensive Planning is the key to growth and development ), which in turn can expand growth and development within the United States, and begin a vast creation of jobs. PPP's with the local economy via Infrastructure Banking Investments can help with the problems, but let us realize that we have huge problems and vast GDP increases to meet and vast reforms to be made... As Defense Tripled due to War, it has to be reformed and reduced, Welfare tripled from 17 to 45 million it too has to be reformed and reduced, and the trade imbalance also tripled from about 350 billion to nearly 1 trillion a year, which cost America millions of jobs; therefore, "free trade is not free" and it has to be reformed and those looses reduced... Thank you, and let's get it done... Harvey Carroll
