Penny is stable. She still has muscle tremors but Dr. Deena Grimm was willing to meet us at the clinic and she’s taken great care of Penny. Definitely switching to Grimm Tails. I can’t stress enough how grateful I am that Dr. Grimm dropped her Saturday night to come help Penny.

Driftless Vet is farm calls only. She is the best. Especially with small ruminants. She does all of my Vet work. She also does vacines for your farm dogs.
Any emergency vets around the area that handle goats? Or anyone in the area have goats and have a favorite farm vet? Preferably someone who could come make a barn call.
Peter H. replied:
Karl Solverson from Westby is awesome, very experienced with livestock, very friendly, and very well equipped for whatever may be needed.

I'm very happy with https://www.facebook.com/325413986610 Animal Tracks Veterinary Service--my rescue puppy needed a bit of special attention (?) and Dr. Kumlin was really helpful and supportive.

Is Animal Tracks a good reliable Vet service? My 9yo cat had white discharge in her eye... I have used Rising Sun Vet, but Animal Tracks is open Sundays.
Toni M. replied:
I have seen some good comments about Animal Tracks. I had a few concerns when I took my cat there (she had hurt her eye somehow). I don't remember the name of the vet; but she was really "rough" with her (and of course she was already hurt and scared) and a little rude to my husband and myself. She also pretty much "insisted" that they remove the eye, which of course we were very reluctant to do; and didn't want to make that kind of decision spur of the moment like that. When I was able to get her into another vet, the next day or so, we were able to just put medication in it for several weeks and she healed up nicely. Having said that... this was many years ago (maybe 7 or 8?) and as I said, I have seen glowing reports about them from other people. Possibly that vet is gone.. or something else has changed there.
Charlynn G. replied:
I have nothing but good to say about Animal Tracks. When we had our dog, he got excellent care there. The vets and the staff were wonderful. If we got another pet, that would be the first place we would go.
Jessie S. replied:
I swear by Animal Tracks! It's the only vet place I'll take my cat to! They may be a little pricier, but it's worth it for the quality of care! Dr. Bass and Dr. Kumlin are both awesome!
Michelle F. replied:
Dr. Kumlin and Dr. Bass have both treated our dog, Vincent, since he was born 6 years ago...he has also participated in Doggy DayCare and been kenneled there...we've always been very satisfied with their bedside manner, and were given treatment options when he was sick...previously when we lived in Ontario, our vet was Dr. Phyllis Burch just outside of Hillsboro, who is the best small animal vet in Vernon Cty...Animal Tracks is on the same level as Dr. Burch in our opinion...that being said, I'm sure there are good and bad stories of all the vets, it's a matter of who you and your pet are comfortable with! Good luck!
Jackie K. replied:
Animal Tracks takes care of all of my fur babies. They are top notch. They really care for the animals. They also will open for emergency calls or give you telephone advice if needed.

If you're looking to spay or neuter a cat or a dog. I recommend the Cat Snip Clinic just outside of viroqua. For cats they have awesome packages that are as low as $35 dollars, including a rabies vaccination. I've heard they do dogs too, but they transport them to Madison and I'm not sure on the price, but it's cheaper then taking them to any vets office. It's not income based either.
Animal Tracks. They took my screaming scared to death phone call in the middle of the night when my dog had his first seizure and treated him and me wonderfully until the day he died. If I had a question or concern they listened and we worked together for his care on my budget. They are reasonable and understanding.

We really like the vets at Rising Sun, and the prices are always reasonable. They also accept Care Credit (which we have because our dentist also accepts it) so you can charge expenses and make payments.

We go to Dr Knight at Coulee Mobile Vet (close to Coon Valley)
Christena W. replied:
I also go to Animal Tracks. I am happy to pay their prices because they take such great care of my cats. They have really gained my trust in how they treat my babies. You only neuter/spay each animal once, so IMO forking over a very reasonable amount for it was fine with me. I’m originally from the Chicago area where vet bills are waaayyy higher and you may go through half a dozen vets who have no bedside manner with animals whatsoever before you find a good one!!

Southwest Vet in Seneca. Excellent service with more than reasonable prices. Pricey doesn’t always mean better.
