Have no idea where Union is, but we moved up here a year ago ... and use Atlantic Veterinary. in Damariscotta. Women docs. Kind and thoughtful vet techs, all women. We loved our vet, back in Boston area - we went to him for 20 years because of his honesty, skill and caring. We are in no way disappointed in anyway with Dr. Tichey. In fact, we feel the same for her care as we did with our previous vet.

Does anyone know of a vet in knox county area that does payment plans to fix a kitten?
Melissa G. replied:
From Spay Maine (http://www.spaymaine.org)..."Rockland area: Free transport for cats, small and medium dogs from the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County to the Community Spay/Neuter Clinic. Cats $10 if from Union, Thomaston, Rockland or Warren. Other cats $60. Call for dog prices. The shelter also has a voucher program for the 20 towns the shelter serves: $25 off a neuter and $50 off a spay. Free feral cat spay/neuter and humane trapping for several area towns. Call the shelter at 594-2200. Rockland area: Margo Maloney, DVM Cats only. Call 557-5669 and leave message."
Melissa G. replied:
You could also check out CareCredit, which is a credit card you can use to pay vet bills that normally starts out with a credit line of $2,500; I believe the Rockland Animal Hospital accepts this for payment (call to confirm: 594.5850). CareCredit has a promotional period (I believe it's of 6 months) by when you'd need to pay the balance in full, or be charged the accumulated interest: http://www.carecredit.com/vetmed/. This is an excellent option for paying for surgeries and other expenses that can be burdensome in a lump sum but doable over time to provide to best care for companion animals! Good luck.

Hi Haylea Lujan! I'm the office manager at Community Spay-Neuter Clinic in Topsham (someone already mentioned us on this thread). Our services are for people who either receive state assistance OR who can't afford the cost of surgery at their regular vet (for whatever reason). The starting cost for a cat is $95 which includes the surgery, rabies vaccine, and distemper vaccine. Obviously the price is lower if your cat is up-to-date on shots. We no longer offer transportation from Thomaston. We do still offer monthly transport from Waterville and Augusta. You can also bring your cat directly to our clinic in Topsham. You can schedule an appointment online on our Facebook page or on our website: www.communityspayneuterclinic.com

I use Evergreen Vet for my horses and Ridge Runner Vet in Winterport for my cat. I took my cat to Searsport vet to be spayed and her initial shots. They gave her her rabies shot in her neck.
