Try http://topdogminders.com They can usually find someone near you who will look after your dog at their home. Much better than a kennel.

I have a friend who used to pet sit before she moved over to the US - there were times where she'd basically be housesitting as well, and other times where all she needed to do was drop in and feed the cats. From memory she found most of that work through a Facebook group that advertised in the area. From that I can infer to at least figure out how much maintenance your dogs need (e.g. daily walks, food, attention, etc.) I'd offer to do it myself since I'm in Chadstone (close to Waverley/Huntingdale Rd intersection), but with no experience and not knowing what my job situation is like in February, there's no doubt that you'll probably want someone a bit more reliable!

I put our young (8 month old) Labrador in a high end kennel for 4 days, picked her up and her collar was destroyed, a dog had ripped it to pieces and she in turn had learnt to destroy dog collars and bite dogs necks. 6 months later she still occasionally goes for collars and necks. Not good. Suggest you get a dog sitter after my experience.
