Hi Bex You may be able to use the urgent repairs provisions of the Residential Tenancies Act to get the work done yourself and be reimbursed. Have a read of our factsheet that covers repairs and maintenance (http://www.tenants.org.au/factsheet-06-repairs-and-maintenance ), and we would definitely recommend getting advice first as you don’t want to miss something and be left paying the cost yourself! You can get advice from your local Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service, their number is www.tenants.org.au/need-advice and their services are free!
