Jay McCarl is Great with the children. He has come to my classroom to visit my preschool students and is JUST WONDERFUL with the children and their office is on Ridge road.

We also went to Dr. Camps in Silver Spring, though I don't remember who saw. First visit was pretty routine - they just counted my daughter's teeth, showed her a few things and actually did a little cleaning (because she was doing well.) Everyone was friendly and it's a pediatric place so everything was geared towards kids.

I take my daughter to Berg, Lawrence, & Weng in Bowie (301-262-0242). They were recommended by my pediatrician, who is awesome!! We've just had an initial consult with Dr. Weng, but I was very happy with their staff and their office.

We go to Dr. Lucia Ditch in Science Park near Berwyn Heights. She is really great with my 4 yr old. My husband and I go there too. It isn't a kid centered office, but they do give toothbrushes and stickers and they are great with the littles.

I don't know if they do kids, but Impressions Dentistry in Lacey specializes in people with dentist phobia. When you check in they give you a long list of stuff you can request, like pillows and a blanket, headphones or a VR-type thingie with tv, etc. It's possible that with their experience in dealing with phobic folks they might have a better sense of how to keep visual/aural stimulation down and that kind of thing. The front desk people have always been really nice, you could probably call and ask to get a solid answer. In my very limited experience, they're not exactly cheap, so you may want to ask for a quote on paper before you do anything.

I take my son (cerebral palsy, autism) to the UW Pediatric Dentistry. Its worth the drive to Seattle, they're wonderful. I think your daughter will need to be referred by her pediatrician and I am not sure if there is still a waitlist.

I agree with Myke . Go to Dr. Weng in Bowie. She is amazing! The whole office is great but she does the teeny tots. She had to remove one of Tessa's teeth when she was only 18 months.

You could ask to see one of the other docs within the office, contrary to belief, they don't always agree with each other...we saw one doc there, and she told us one thing that I want too sure about whether I agreed with her approach, so I asked to see what Dr. Aguto thought before we did procedure, he disagreed with her...I'm glad I asked for second opinion.
