Looking for mental healthcare I recently realized I might be dealing with mental health problems. I have no idea who to talk to about this. I think there's a good...

If you are thinking that medication might be in order, then you will need a psychiatrist, as they would be able to prescribe meds. They can also be good for talk therapy, but many people have both a psychiatrist for meds and a therapist for more frequent talking. If you need to talk to someone more urgently, Provident is a local organization that offers a 24/7 crisis line that also has a bunch of resources.314-647-4357 I have called them personally and they were very helpful. Feel free to DM me with any questions. I am very much in the mental health space, so I have lots of additional resources.

If you want to start with a therapist first before deciding on medications, the [Psychology Today website](https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists) has a therapist finder tool. You put in your zipcode and other potential requirements (including do they take your insurance). Each therapist has a profile so you can a little sense of who they are before calling.

Not sure your age but you can walk into Mercy. They have a behavioral health unit too. Good luck.

Try not to get discouraged during this process. It might be a bit of work to find a therapist/psychiatrist that accepts your insurance, is taking new patients, *and* is a good fit for you. It's not unusual, especially with psychiatrists, for there to be a waitlist or where the soonest available appointment is months away. You've already started the process though, and that can be the hardest part. I wish you good health!

I’m a bit late to the discussion, but I’d like to recommend CenterPointe. Their doctors were the first to accurately diagnose me in almost a decade, and they were extremely helpful when it came to transitioning from in patient to out patient to one on one therapy. They’ve been great with helping me stay med compliant, too. They kept the process smooth and it definitely helped. Best of luck!
