Looking for OBGYN who can do c-sections or VBACs.......who would you recommend?
Rebecca B. replied:
Dr Fitzgerald is acquiring a new partner soon. Don't know how he is with VBACs or with anything, but he's an option. Different people are attracted to different doctors. There is no 'right doctor' for everyone, and there is nothing wrong with interviewing a few to see who you 'click' best with.
Kristine T. replied:
Dr. Fitgerald is an amazing surgeon and truly knowledgable doctor. He is great for high risk patients and my 9 month old is only here because of him. I was warned about his quirky personality ahead of time because five others at my work go to him too. However, I don't think I would have really noticed if they hadn't said something.
Britt B. replied:
I had Generations Medical with Faucett as a main provider and Downing was her secondary during our C-section. Downing was my MIL's main provider and my mom's main provider's backup, so I suggest them highly. To the best of my knowledge, they are V-BAC. Also, Ellen Palmer is a midwife there and to my understanding she has hospital privileges.
Kristina W. replied:
I know Dr. Dekeyser in anchorage is incredible, he's delivered 95% of the babies in my family, including my high risk siblings,i would have gone to him for mine but id heard so highly of Dr. Elrod, really enjoyed our meeting, and he was closer. I was about to switch to Dr. Dekeyser but after meeting with Wayman I decided to stay since I only had a month left and I really enjoyed her.... I was with my best friend threw her pregnancy and didn't care of anyone at generations, but she really enjoyed them. I also know people who loved Dr. Brooks,i personally couldnt stand the man....so I really think its about meeting with a few doctors, and sticking with who you feel comfortable with. My cousin used Dr.Erickson, and I did meet him and he seemed like a really nice guy,but hes a family doctor.
Tessa R. replied:
Nancy and Sophie I would really recommend actually calling and talking with Dr Elrod about why his privileges are currently revoked. They are very open and honest at their practice. I've seen both of them (Tara and dr Elrod) mention many times that if people have questions to contact them. There has been misinformation abound surrounding that circumstance.
Nancy S. replied:
I recommend Anchorage Women's Clinic - located right at Providence Hospital..It is a huge practice with lots of doctors and nurses so it is not very personal BUT they are all very experienced and it is located right upstairs from the labor and delivery wing of the hospital. So, if something is wrong, you can be downstairs to deliver in minutes. Plus, there are ob/gyn doctors on call (i.e., stationed at) Providence 24/7 so if you have to have an emergency C section, you don't have to wait for your doctor or an on-call doctor to drive over to the hospital...Plus Providence has a great NICU if you need it.

Jennifer S. replied:
I'd go straight to Anchorage and see Dr. Peter Adams. Well worth the drive!
Mariellen H. replied:
Peggy Downing, she delivered both my boys first by c-section
Audrey P. replied:
Dr. Bell.
Jen M. replied:
Ellen Palmer is fantastic! I did not have a VBAC but I believe she supports them. She is so kind & really cares about her patients. And yes, she has hospital privileges, she delivered my daughter at Mat-Su Regional.
Ashlei W. replied:
Dr Elrod is absolutely amazing as well as his colleague Dr Waymen.. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! They are both unable to provide those services so I would see their NP (?) Kathryn and ask fit a recommended backup csection doctor...
Holly H. replied:
I've really liked Dr. Clift at Solstice Family Care. She works at a family practice, but specializes in OB.
Chris A. replied:
Dr Doty solstice family care bogard. 352 -1300
Angela B. replied:
I love Dr. Fitzgerald he is top notch with a kooky personality. He delivered two of my babies.
Vanessa W. replied:
Dr. Glen Elrod!!!
Amy W. replied:
Dr. Elrod
Stacey B. replied:
Dr. Elrod is not able to do c sections at this time and Dr. Wayman is leaving state at the end of August
Stacey B. replied:
Dr. Fitzgerald is really good! He assisted Dr. Elrod on two of my previous sections
Heather M. replied:
I like Dr Fitzgerald. Loved Dr Wayman. I did NOT like Dr Elrod. I don't know if it was a personality clash, bedside manor, or what but he and I didn't work out. He seems like a great guy just not the right obgyn for me.
Elicia C. replied:
Dr Fitzgerald took on my high risk pregnancy and ended up saving my life with an emergency c-section. If I ever were to have another baby, I'd go back to him.
Teresa N. replied:
Dr. faucet is amazing!! I know Dr. Downing is in the same office would not recommend her
Amanda B. replied:
Dr. Doty at Solstice took great care of me during my pregnancy. She doesn't perform c-sec, her partner Dr. Harrison does. They were both in the room together as a team, they talked to me and I had a stellar surgery. My scar healed up right away and my daughter is a very healthy 4. It can be a wait to see them but if you call ahead they have openings. When I was worried about something during my pregnancy they got me right in and calmed my nerves. They are very personable and caring.
Amanda B. replied:
Dr. Downing or Fossit at generations medical
Amber B. replied:
I'm using Downing currently for my 3 rd child. I had a horrible experience with Dr. Fitzgerald. Will never go back to him.
Sacha R. replied:
Dr Faucett was aweful! Her bedside manor doesn't exist. She kept telling me my baby was going to be born with severe defects and telling me I was overweight every single visit... Not supportive at all. There were never any indicators that my son had defects no ultrasound or test showed any but she kept using scare tactics. I refused to go back no one should ever have to feel put down or scared for no reason.
Dr. Elrod is wonderful - he does work with women regarding VBAC. He does not support scheduled c-sections but will do a c-section if it is a necessary need for the baby. I highly recommend his practice
Sacha R. replied:
A big NO on Downing. She did my first two C-sections and it was hell with recovery and infections and scaring. I went to Dr. Fitzgerald this time around and although he is a weird man he is a top notch doctor. Recovery was quick no infection And he doesn't do staples he does plastic surgery quality stitching. Once you ignore his quirky behavior he is levels above anyone at Generations.
Sophie F. replied:
Dr Downing is amazing and the very best.
Sara C. replied:
Dr. Elrod. He's the best.

Lorianne Z. replied:
I would not recommend Dr. Downing. I know at least 2 people that didn't have a great experience with her.
Allison T. replied:
Dr Wayman or Elrod. They work together in the same office. I saw wayman more and really liked her!
Any recommendations for an experienced gynecologist in Wasilla/Palmer?
Jill A. replied:
Dr Oliver is amazing. Generations, I would avoid them like the plague.
Sarah E. replied:
Dr Oliver is the best around. He is very busy and has years of experience and is very kind. Dr Elrod doesn't have hospital privileges any longer. I would not go to him.
Sarah T. replied:
Dr Elrod does not have privileged because he does not push drugs, c sections, etc. On women. He is fighting that decision from the mat su hospital. I have never heard anyone complain about him as a doctor, he works with the patient making sure they get what they need and not just giving drugs out just because
Anna R. replied:
Dr. Elrod is the best! and his wife (midwife) Tara is great too!
Anastasia J. replied:
I have been told the 3 best GYN drs are Dr Oliver, Dr Elrod and Dr Fitzgerald. All 3 of them assist each other, know each other, and consult each other. I was told this by Dr Olivers nurse. Just putting that out there! Lol i dont think u can go wrong with either doc!
Linda C. replied:
Do not go to Dr. Hill.
Inga C. replied:
I highly recommend Dr Doty at Solstice Family Care. She's a general practitioner so my whole family sees her and she delivered my kiddos. Shes great
Leesi T. replied:
Dr Oliver
Kori C. replied:
Dr Elrod
Sarah T. replied:
integrated Women's Wellness off Trunk Road. Dr. Elrod and they have a new doctor as well
Sarah P. replied:
Dr. Elrod is the best. I was having some health issues and went to every single ob/gyn in the valley and he was amazing and finally helped me out.
Marcia C. replied:
Dr Oliver!!
Kristine T. replied:
He delivered my coworkers child right before the death of the last baby and a monitor was not used for her and she was never asked. A close friend of the parents who lost their baby said a monitor wasn't used for them as well - so they had no idea the baby was no longer living or in distress before she gave birth. Actually, in that case, I was told she was under the care of his wife and was 3+ weeks overdue where his wife didn't want to induce and Dr. Elrod took over. I don't know the full details because I hated to ask too much. I was in tears hearing the story. Also, learning the State filed charges against him doesn't look good.
had another OBGYN apt today, gota go to the hosp for blood work and genetic screaning since somebody isnt around to tell the docs there side of the fams medical issues....
