Hello everyone!
My partner Claudia and I will be visiting your beautiful state during the first week of August. Our plans are to drive the Denali Highway loop from...

Hi Claudia and David. Sorry . . . yep, we Alaskans go outside in the summer! And you'll soon see why. So glad you'll be up here to enjoy it. You won't have any trouble eating vegan in Alaska. Fred Myer's is a very large grocery chain here, and it's in every town. They have a great natural food section, and even prepared foods in a deli-style case. Plus produce. Carrs Safeway is another chain. It's owned by Safeway, but the sign usually says Carrs. They also have lots of vegan options, but Fred Myer's is probably better. Most restaurants will have something you can eat, although the further you go into "the boonies" the more likely it will be difficult.

If you check out our website, we also have recommendations for the Anchorage area: www.alaskaveg.org. And of course, you can check out happycow.net. I don't know anything about the B&B's around here ... sorry. You'll probably have to give them a call to find out what they offer. I hope you have a fantastic time up here, and the weather is as good then as it has been most of the summer so far.
Man I wish Anchorage or Wasilla, or even Palmer had a Cracker barrel restaurant!! Good Southern Food....

Love Cracker Barrel! Great food and great place to shop. Love all the rocking chairs outside:)

We bought a rocking chair when we were at Cracker Barrel in Lafayette Indiana last July!!! My daughter was driving back to Alaska with a trailer and brought it home for us!!!

Sonic has great burgers. Still, with so many great restaurants in Anchorage, why would anyone want an Olive Garden (awful), Cracker Barrel (good comfort food, I admit), FatBurger, Waffle House (although I love living near one now). I've been away a while; I hope, for all y'all's sake, that you don't have a Red Lobster now. And who needs Sonic when you've got Arctic Roadrunner?
Somebody here recently mentioned the Abby restaurant awhile back - remember Clinkerdagger, Bickerstaff & Petts? They used to dress up in period costumes as well. Used to...
