Should we rent a car? Making our first visit to Cabo & Grand Solmar the 2nd week of October. Will need to travel from airport to GS picking up groceries (& adult...
Marah H. replied:
We have always rented and never had a problem. http://m.sfgate.com/mexico/mexicomix/article/Renting-a-car-in-Mexico-What-you-need-to-know-3787891.php
Gale W. replied:
Samuel Alcocer is your man. He can help with everything and no worries for you.
Linda D. replied:
We rented this last trip. No issues. Used Cactus Car Rental at the airport. Very smooth and reasonable in price. Gave us a better since of freedom to branch out and explore the area.
Diana M. replied:
You don't need to rent a car. Samuel Alcocer for transportation is great. He is on Facebook.
Diana M. replied:
You can use Cabo Kruzer for any beverage or groceries you want at your villa.
Marilyn G. replied:
We haven't rented a car. We use www.pricklypearcabo.com and order groceries before we go. They arrive about an hour after we check in.
Cindy J. replied:
Cabo Kruzer for food and beverage delivery. Sometimes I sent a car, sometimes I don't. If only a party of 2, I usually just cab or walk. Rent a car for a day or two if traveling out of CSL. Cactus rental if decide to rent a car. Parking in town is very challenging.
Jim G. replied:
Some thoughts: rent a car for a couple of days. Taxis are expensive. Walk to the bottom of the hill and take local buses down town for $1 US. Less in pesos about 12. You can also take them back. They get you anywhere you want to go in town. Use Samuel Alcocer for airport for private service and "entertainment". Less expensive is the Grand Solmar shuttle and it's fine. You can rent a car right at GS and it's fine. You don't need a rental all week.
Weldon M. replied:
We usually go to Todos Santos one day and the ATV rides. We drove to LaPaz once, don't think we will do that again
John H. replied:
Hey Ron, driving in Mexico can be very interesting!:-). We did rent a car on our third trip to Cabo as we went to Todo Santos for the day. We did well, just need to keep your eyes open as other drivers tend to drive on any part of the road they need to. I've heard police can be hard to deal with at times if you get pulled over for any reason. There's plenty of day transportation available as well, and for dinner a cab would be an easy ride. Check with Samuel Alcocer for transportation needs, he does a great job! Have fun!! P.s., it's an easy walk from GS into town, if you don't mind an easy walk you'll save can fare.
Kevin S. replied:
I was there in May and rented a Nissan X-Trail (Rogue in US) for 2 weeks from Dollar for $422.00 total with the mandatory insurance. Reserved online. We always rent a car and have had no problems. If you have American Express card, you can sign up for their rental insurance to cover collision for $25 for each rental the card is used to rent. Also, take pictures of the entire car before you leave the rental agency so they can't come back at you for damage (scratches, etc) that were already there. There are also timeshare people at the rental centers, but usually only one. If you don't mind doing a presentation, you may be able to get the rental fees covered. Good luck! If it has reopened, the Puerto Paraiso mall garage at the marina has cheap parking too. If it hasn't reopened, they have an unpaved lot across the street that we parked in for free.
Kayla L. replied:
Ron GS has shuttle service, and also Samuel Alcocer can hook you up with transportation. He lives in Cabo. We never rent a car.

Bar Esquina across the Marina,(near the Office) or across the street from Bar Esquina (street level at Bahia Hotel) is Ediths! Classic Cabo but all are GREAT places to eat. Of course The Office serves food if you want Happy hour party atmosphere. Pedregal is dressy and VERY romantic. Table for 2(phone app) reservations suggested. Bar Esquina and Edith's are nice but casual dress.

We discovered a little restaurant on our last visit. Cabo Luna. Walked by it a hundred times before not noticing it. Lovely open air seating off the street. Directly across from Cabo Wabo store entrance. Best fillet ever. Food is 5 star in our opinion.
