Recommendations for roofers in Waterloo? Well, it's summer, and the original roof on our 14-year-old, two-storey house in Waterloo has started to degrade. Today a...

Roof Man. I'll explain why. We gathered estimates a few years ago. Some of the companies involved gave us estimates without leaving the ground. Others treated my wife, the daughter of a lifelong construction worker, like an imbecile. Roof Man came, went up on the roof, asked for and received access to our attic...and then three days later visited my wife at her work with a prepared *binder* of information explaining what all needed to be done and why, with pictures. The estimate was midrange, not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but it was by *far* the most comprehensive. And we were very happy with the work.

In the end, went with The Roofman who provided us quotes for both shingle and steel roofing.
Upon meeting Mike from The Roofman, he set himself far and above the other roofers we received quotes from. He prepared an incredibly comprehensive package based on the needs of our home. He took the time to answer our questions, I spent about an hour with him while he took pictures, viewed our attic and sat down to answer my questions. We were especially interested to hear about the "warrantees" offered by shingle manufacturers. The ones we went with has the System Plus warrantee.
The quote for the roof work and the attic work (upgraded insulation) was reasonable. Mike prepared several quotes from the base "this house has to sell now" quote to "I want my roof to cost me a car" quote. Mike came back with these (on a holiday Monday, which was very convenient for us). Again, Mike sat down and talked to us about why he was recommending certain things and how others were just "bells and whistles" if we went with a more expensive package.
Mike also explained why he made the business decision to no longer sell BP, IKO and CRC products, which is very interesting.
Mike was honest, answered all of our questions, and has a great sense of humour (if that kind of thing matters to you at all). We haven't yet had the roof installed as we only just signed the contract, but I can tell you that I am sure his team will do a great job based on satisfied client feedback.
Thank you all for your suggestions, /u/ev98 and I greatly appreciate it!

We've used [McIntosh Roofing](https://www.facebook.com/McIntoshRoofing) to fix the roof on our 4 year old house a couple of times when the wind took off some shingles. He's done a great job and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. I definitely recommend giving him a call:)
Still looking for a roofer for tomorrow. Paying CA$h.

Ryan Folkerts with Zenetta construction. He replaced my roof a few years ago before we moved and will now be replacing the one on our new home. Let me know if you'd like his number.
