Any suggestions on a good, affordable nearby gym that has decent childcare, besides LA Fitness? I'm not a fan of my current place. Thanks!
Rob W. replied:
The Y is way overpriced. The rates quoted above are what I was paying at Lifetime Fitness in Woodbury. And from equipment standpoint and services the Y isn't half the gym Lifetime is. With that said, I quit Lifetime and switched to LA fitness because it's so close and for 30.00 per month, there isn't a nicer gym. With that said, I don't use childcare there. I did use the childcare at Lifetime and it was really nice.

Eagan Ymca is only a 10 min drive as well - it's a bit bigger

69 a month at y includes childcare - may get lower - Eagan Ymca has excellent childcAre - haven't used wsp in many years but was great when we did
Anyone know any good gym fitness with affordable price?

SSP Community Center is cheap at $23 a month for single. It's good for cardio machine, not so much for weight machines and free weights tho. I like The Grove in Inver Grove Heights, but it's $58. It offers a heck of a lot more. There was also a discussion earlier on this page of Planet Fitness going in at the Old Country Buffet site. It's like $10??

Wellstone Center is super cheap for Saint Paul residence, like $30 a year I read.

Love https://www.facebook.com/1474110399482819 Anytime Fitness - West St Paul, Heather Anderson is the manager. This place has become my second home and I used to hate working out.
Does anyone know of a lap pool nearby that I could get a monthly membership for? I pay for a gym membership just to swim laps and I'm interested in finding a new place.
Tiffany N. replied:
I love my Y but you could also do an aquatic membership at St Paul pools. Their lap swim hours seem kinda limited though. https://www.stpaul.gov/departments/parks-recreation/aquatics/aquatics-memberships

Key Fitness on Dodd and 110 has free daycare. It's a family owned business with excellent instructors and great members. You can give it a try for free for two weeks.

Anyone know where there is open gym time in the evenings or weekends?
Sue K. replied:
Eagan community center. They appear to have more hours than on their website so call. Inver Grove Community Center has it Sunday afternoon, but it's a really small gym. When we lived on the west side we would go to El Rio Vista but it looks like it's only until 5:30
Can anyone recommend a fitness center where there is no size discrimination, where they feel comfortable working out?

I go to Optimal Health and Performance in Cottage Grove. Owned by Brian and Jonathan. Two great guys who just want to help people get healthy. Personal training at your level and bootcamps. They just started yoga there as well. Everyone wears old t shirt's and sweatpants. Very non-flashy and non-judgementall. I love it. Ironic that its next to Dairy Queen as well- lol!
