As far as I can remember the 25 (625) went from outside Barnes Travel agency which used to be in Market Street opp to Woodcock Street.

The Springfield service was originally a ` Works Bus` that used to bring workers to the Walker Brothers factory during WW2. It kept up a service until 1959 but was stopped, as many people in those days went on to Beech Hill and very few people got off at Springfield. Originally, the 625 was just 25 and the `6` was added after re-organization of the old Wigan Corporation Transport Department and a company called SELNEC started bringing buses into Wigan.

Coming back from town didn't you catch it outside of Lowes (now TSB bank) there were two stops one for Springfield and the other for Beech Hill.

Or you could take the 555 from Dunmail to keswick and the X4 to Threlkeld if you want to start your walk there. Or get off the 555 at Dale Bottom and walk across the end of High Rigg, to go up Clough Head by the Fisher's wife's rake route.
