Hello all. We want to do a day trip to the Lake District tomorrow and we are driving from the cleveleys/Blackpool area. Any suggestions on where to visit for the day?...

South Lakes for an easy day trip. Take a walk up Gummers How - on a clear day you can see the Tower. Beautiful views. Nearby is Fell Foot for a run around - http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/fell-foot . Then you can drive into Bowness for all the tourist shops you can shake a stick at and lots of restaurants for tea. Back home for bedtime.

Try keswick. Plenty shops and eating places. Take a boat trip around derwentwater taking in the views of the mountains, get of the boat at Ashness and take the kids for a walk up to Ashness bridge and possibly on to Surprise View taking in the views of Derwentwater and beyond. Then either walk back to Keswick via the lake or get the ferry back to keswick
