I believe you can trim a Live Oak as much as you want but can't remove one. Try Chad's Lawn Service.

agreed John Thacker - my '40' year old tree should have been assessed 15 years ago before The Villages allowed the builder to plant a house next to it !!

Too bad "coat racking" is not fined in Marion County. Our new neighbors did that to two of their five oak trees. Looks ridiculous. First they asked Villages arborist which trees can be cut. He told them none of them are eligible. So they called back an d a different arborist said that one could be cut down. But then they went to the architectural committee and they allowed them to cut not only one but TWO! We live on a heavily lined tree street in Woodbury and we bought here because of the trees. Why do people buy homes with trees and then proceed to do this. The Gosson family performed this whack job. Sad

Do you want a trimming or cut down? There are limitations for cutting down a tree. I think they have to be diseased or dead before they can be cut down. Check with Districtgov.org look on page 9 in the Villages phone book "Tree Rem oval. This will be at the bottom of page.

We just had a palm that died removed...........next door they had a huge oak taken down (with permit). Call Gosson Family Professional Tree Service.........AJ Gosson........390-4452. Licensed and insured. They did next door and ours........reasonable.

The Villages doesn't want the Live Oaks cut down, but the tree can be trimmed so that there is minimal mess to worry with. Douglas Landscape & Lawn service trims up and around the tree so that the wind can blow thru the branches. We also take all the l ittle branches and moss in and on the major branches.
