West has had many bouts of croup. Still gets it at least once a year. Symptoms aren't as bad as they age. We visited the ER a few times for it. It can be scary. Luckily, I learned the signs of it quickly and some great pediatricians who were experienced in dealing with it. Some say to use steam to help, but we found cold air helped West (he always got it in the winter.) They tell you it usually lasts about 2 nights and that is what we found also, so be prepared for lack of sleep. Our dr sometimes prescribed prednisone which really does help. They used a nebulizer at the hospital for it. They also had us have him sleep propped up (car seat of course as a baby), but pillows once he was older.
