Could anyone suggest some nice trails to take my family and 4 horses to this summer? We want to do a long weekend in Tennessee and also day trips in the KY area. Any...

Knott Co. wouldn't be. As Roy mentioned we have the Reservoir in Scott County (Georgetown, KY) that would be good for a day ride. If you want to try it you can email me cloud9 farm@bellsouth.net and I can give you directions or possibly join you so you don't let lost.

Bear Creek The Big South Fork in Whitley City, Ky. About 3 hrs.

They have a web site you can go to A. J. Jolly Equestrian to check out times and rates. Most all of the ones listed above do. Clay Farm in Nicholas County (Carlisle, KY) is also primitive and you can get very lost there and I wouldn't advise it on your own. All of the Camps at Mammoth Cave lack shade so it is best to go there in the spring and fall. Green River has a small campground and he rents out most of his sites year around to people who fish, although I heard he is putting in some more but they are not shaded. They do have a day park area at Green. Taylorsville Lake is a nice day ride or short weekend stay but they don't have enough trails to stay much longer. Red Hill has a nice campground but for me the trails are not up to par as some of the rest.

Nobody has mentioned the "reservoir" in Scott Co on Gaines Rd. it's a good day ride place.

Dawson Spring Ky, has a park. Pennyrile National Forest state park and I have been told they have good trails and nice cabins to rent. Would like to go there one day myself. https://sites.google.com/site/friendsofpennyrilestatepark1/horseback-trails-in-pennyrile-state-forrest

Double J is a little rougher. Bar D K is also nice but no shade so you might want to go there spring or fall. We are going to Bar D K in a couple of weeks.
