College Gate/College Academy is awesome at McCall (it is 3 weeks in July). It is lots of hands on workshops all day and they have extended day options. My kids love it and ask for it every summer! http://www.collegegate.org/

Camp Evergreen in Andover is popular with Winchester families -- they used to have a bus from here not sure if that's still the case. It's nice because it has that "summer camp" feel (archery, swimming etc.) without the overnight part
Amy M. replied:
The Woburn YMCA has a really good camp. My son went when he was younger and my daughter is going this summer. They do weekly themes and field trips.
Pamela C. replied:
The summer camp at Lexington Christian Academy is called Meadowbreeze. They fill up early so you should check out their web site. They are hingle regarded and serve a hot lunch every day.
Laura R. replied:
Definitely check out Camp Evergreen in North Andover. There is door-to-door bus service. As Catherine mentioned, it has a very nice woodsy setting, and opportunities for kids to try everything from tennis to archery, catching frogs to flag football, woodshop to drama. My 8 year old son loved it last summer and will go back.
Looking for feedback on summer camps in the area for a rising 1st grader. Ideally, it is either close or offers transportation, and runs full day (i.e., has early...

Meadow Breeze in Lexington
Laura R. replied:
Camp Evergreen in Andover does door-to-door transportation for $80 per week. It is a fantastic, woodsy camp, but possibly too long of a day for a rising first grader. Depends on the child. My son first went as a rising second grader and loved it. There's something for everyone there -- from tennis to frog-catching, drama to canoe trips, wood shop to ping pong.

Cara L. replied:
Meadow breeze at LCA or Running Brook, which has a bus pick up/drop off at Ambrose. Or Belmont Day School camp.
Debbie C. replied:
If you have a girl, I highly recommend Girl Scout camp - Cedar Hill in Waltham has day camp with a bus that picks up at town hall. My girls loved it (and GS sleep-away camp when they got a little older)
Jill F. replied:
Belmont Day Camp is great!
Denise G. replied:
College Gate at McCall fits the bill. Our kids love it!
Annie B. replied:
Hi Brett! Kids Corner summer program is great and does have have early/late options. Wright-Locke has a fantastic full-day program, too, but not sure about extended day. Good luck!

HI I was just curious..I have a first grade girl. I wanted to know if anyone can recommend good camps for vacation. No overnight. Just really reputable fun camp....
Denise G. replied:
There was a long thread on this about a month ago with a lot of camps mentioned such as Meadow Brook in Lexington, College Gate here in Winchester, and many more. You may want to search for that on FB. It is true that a lot are full but some still have room, it's worth looking through the list of suggestions people had.

Beth Mack, I understand Wright Locke Farm has space over April vacation! Summer except for a few select weeks may be another story.
Colleen D. replied:
Camp Thoreau in Concord was great for both my girl and boy with very different interests, Wright Locke Farm and Arlington Center for Arts where my daughter now 17 will be a counselor in their drama program. Wolfgang kidlax if she like spots, where my son was a CIT last year.
Tara O. replied:
Kids' Corner has a great weekly camp, although may be full for that age.
Winchester R. replied:
Winchester Recreation offers a number of fun and different summer programs from Art Studio to Full Day Adventures.

Camp Cedar Hill in Waltham is a great Girl Scout camp. You don't have to be a Girl Scout to go. They have a bus that picks up right at Winchester Town Hall.
