Cotswold Wildlife Park out near Burford, lots of arty shops there too. Witney has a great new(ish) shopping centre, which has pretty much everything there. Swindon has shopping centres, Cinema complexes and Ice Skating along with the Oasis Swimming centre too. Lots of tubes and fun day out. The nightlife is pretty dire in Carterton, but if you have transportation then there are many things going on in Oxford, Witney, and even Swindon, there are many evening activities too. Lots of bands come to Oxford to play, there's always sports too with Oxford united, Swindon Town etc to watch. Reading is only 90 minutes away, with incredible shops and many more activities. There are good access roads to the A40 and although traffic is heavy right now with the ongoing road works, to the M40 - for Banbury and London - are easily accessed. It's a nice family friendly town. Good luck with your move.

Wash meadow at Minster Lovell walk over to the ruins, Linch Hill fishery is nice for walking, Roman Villa at East Leigh, walk from Lechlade to neighbouring village pub for lunch, Rose revived river side pub, Swinbrook has a beautiful walk around it, loads of country life around here. Witney has a good range of cafés and restaurants. Swindon has a good range of shops, eateries and activities from walking, bowling, swimming, laser quest etc. You should be able to occupy your time quite easily. Good luck with the move
