My GI doc here in Nashville is great - Dr. George Wright. I agree though that if all the docs remained stumped Mayo Clinic is the way to go.

The Cleveland Clinic in OH has an excellent GI dept. for adults as well as children under the age of 18 for GI problems esp. Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease. or you can also try the Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN

I second the referral to Mayo Clinic! They can get a battery of testing done with multiple specialists within a shorter period of time than just seeing one at a time locally.

Dr. Keith Obstein at Vanderbilt University Hospital, in Nashville, I had GI problems as well, my stomach pouch ( I had Gastric Bypass Surgery in 2006 ) was covered with scar tissue and was only open 2 mm. This awesome doctor figured out what was wrong with me and saved my life!

There's a Dr Berquist at Stanford/Lucille Packard's. He is amazing. He treated my son and got to the bottom of my son's esophageal problem. I'm not sure he treats adults but it's worth a try. Excellent doctor/excellent results.

My daughter has a rare disorder called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS) which causes her to vomit 50-100× when in an episode. She is 5 and has been hospitalized multiple times due to this. If it is something to do with vomiting Dr. Bi Li in Wisconsin is the very best when it comes to CVS.

I was born with gastroskesis, and have had my share of abdominal surgeries and illness. The best GI and extremely well known. Is Dr Lazlo Makk (there's two though, one is his dad, he's the younger..40's??) He is amazing! And after so many dr's I can't even count that couldn't find my main life threatening issues, he is the only one that got to the bottom of everything. He's at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville Ky. She won't regret it, he is awesome. Until then, she'll be in my prayers as well;)

My dad has crohns disease and he see Dr Levinson in Memphis tn and has been seeing him for over 30 yrs and he would recommend him to anyone he actually trains a lot of going to be drs.

Did her dad serve in the Vietnam war.....and if so was she born after him returning....if so....check into Agent Orange Disease......specially if her father has every been diagnosis with agent orange....it can be passed down to his children and their children...

Lace' I too went to see Dr. Chatman@MMC last yr for my varicose vein ablation! I ve been knowin him for yrs now Bc he was my grans vascular surgeon as well ! I highly recommend him!!
