Bookstores in Wroclaw, Poland

I haven't found any, unfortunately the best I've seen is a couple of pitiful shelves in Empik, and its 85% Shakespeare! I order online (www.bookfinder.com)

Used book shops are called usually: Antykwariat Naukowy.bookshops like centrum taniej książki sometimes have surprising selection of foregin language books.Remember once I bought 'Pride and Prejudice" in Feniks for something like 10 zł, where Empik would probably charge me 60...

yes- there is one just next to Świdnickie underpass, one on Ruska and probably the one in Feniks is still there, but it's more of hunting than actually buying the thing you need. Wrocław's municipal library has a place called American Corner, and that's where most of foreign language books donated by expats are.

this place has a whole shelf (!) of english books, most are pretty good though you cannot find tom clancy/agatha christie types - the prices are on the hgih side though http://tajnekomplety.osdw.pl/

Amazon has a range of free books for the Kindle (ones which have either gone past their copyright date, or that certain authors provide for free as an advertisement) - some of them are quite good. I went to Tajne Kompletny today, its pretty good! Just the prices are a bit high, they wanted 65 zl for a book you can get online for 10..Otherwise the selection was much better than empik

Maya, there's American Corner in the Library in Rynek (2 nd floor). Lifetime membership 10 zl. British Library on Kuznicza/uniwersytet Wroclawski. Annual membership is about 30 zl if I remember correctly.

It depends what you need. I would suggest COLUMBUS in Kuźnicza 57-58 unless you're after children's games, textbooks and dvds in which case I would suggest my own www.EduPlanet.com.pl Hope this helps.

You can also try Traffic Club, on the first floor of Arkady, nice selection of classics ;)

There are couple of places for English novels but unfortunately there is a veryyy small chance to find technical books or magazines. I use amazon.co.uk

one on Szewska famous for Dante. Kot Dante one in Plac Uniwersytecki, opposite the university building (it's very small and beautiful) one on Kuźnicza on the corner with Uniwersytecka.

Tajne Komplety right in the middle of Rynek should have some.

There's a store in the same block as Lotus Hotel (very close to Galeria Dominikaska). They sell any kind of maps, travel guides, etc. They only sell that kind of stuff, so they may have what you are looking for.
